The 25A marine grade aluminium penstock range is a high quality, engineered to order product, designed to suit medium head duties. They are suitable for water and wastewater applications where flow isolation or diversion is required by way of manual or powered operation.

The 25A range consists of a robust marine grade aluminium frame designed to withstand the specified maximum on and off-seating pressures and operating forces. Seals are frame mounted and consist of self-adjusting, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene side seals with a resilient neoprene flush invert seal or UHMWPE for downward opening weir penstocks. To achieve full perimeter sealing the 25A-T penstock incorporates a self-adjusting UHMWPE top seal. All seals are mechanically fixed and are easily replaceable. The marine grade aluminium sliding gate is designed and suitably stiffened to withstand the specified pressures. The marine grade aluminium construction provides excellent corrosion resistance while the self adjusting UHMWPE seals provide optimum sealing and a low co-efficient of sliding friction during gate operation.

The 25A range is suitable for upward opening (25A-T), downward opening (25A-W) or sideward opening (25A-S) applications and are designed for operation by manual, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic actuators with a rising or non-rising stem. The 25A range can be supplied as fully self-contained, self contained with thrust tube, or open top with operator support pedestal. The flat back design is suitable for tank mounting and can be supplied as wall, side wall, embedded or flange mounted.

The US series penstock is a high quality, engineered to order product, designed to suit a head no greater than the gate depth. The US penstock consists of a special channel section frame designed to withstand specified maximum on and off-seating pressures and operating forces. The frame encapsulates self-adjusting, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene side seals and the resilient neoprene flush invert seal. All seals are easily replaceable. The sliding gate is designed and suitably stiffened to withstand the specified pressures. The US series penstock is fabricated using either marine grade aluminium (USAA) or grade 316/316L stainless steel (USSS) providing excellent corrosion resistance. The self adjusting UHMWPE seals provide optimum sealing and a low co-efficient of sliding friction during gate operation.

The US series penstock is suitable for upward opening applications and is designed for operation by manual, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic actuators with a rising or non-rising stem. The US Series are supplied as fully self-contained and can be either embedded, wall or side wall mounted.

Classification Cyclones are widely used in Minerals Processing to separate material by particle density or particle size.

Ludowici hydrocyclones are used in applications including classification, closed circuit grinding, flotation, dewatering or thickening, desliming, counter current washing, gravity concentration, de-ashing of coal, heavy mineral enrichment and liquor degritting.

Ludowici offers a large selection of Classification cyclones with diameters ranging from 40 to 1450mm and with volumetric capacities to over 2000m3/hr. Materials of construction include mild steel bodies with ceramic, polyurethane or rubber lining, glass fibre bodies with polyurethane or rubber lining and solid ceramic, cast white iron or polyurethane.

The Ludowici cyclone designs have evolved and now incorporate industry leading edge features including Inlet head shape, Barrel lengths, Cone Angle, Vortex and Overflow Design and Spigot shapes. These features ensure the most efficient separation processes occur within the cyclone.

The new Ludowici Horizontal Fine Coal Centrifuge (HFC) is a product of Ludowici’s ongoing commitment to supply state of the art equipment to the coal industry. The HFC 1300 has a maximum nominally capacity of 100 tonnes/hour of less than 6 mm material. The fine coal centrifuge is widely used to dewater coal spiral product, nominally -2.0 +0.1 mm.

The HFC is a horizontally configured, scroll and basket style centrifuge. The differential speed of the scroll to the basket, combined with the basket angle, conveys material from the feed end of the basket to the product discharge.

Telescopic valves are used to control the level of liquid within a holding chamber.

They are also used adjacent to settlement tanks for sludge draw-off. The assembly consists of a tube which moves up and down inside a fixed vertical pipe. The inner tube is raised and lowered via a lifting device. Loads are retained within the frame and flange bolts with only frame stabilisers being required for bolting to an adjacent wall.

CONSTRUCTION FEATURES

Tube:

Watergates sp offers telescopic valves in a range of sizes from 100mm diameter to 1000mm diameter and can be manufactured in marine grade aluminium alloy, grade 316 stainless steel or uPVC. Bellmouth inlets are standard, however, vee notched or straight inlets can be provided on request.

Seal and Flange:

A neoprene wiper type seal is used achieve sealing at the interface where the sliding tube enters the fixed vertical pipe. The seal is retained within the flanges and is set in the factory for optimum sealing and minimum operating force.

Stem:

Are manufactured from a machining grade 316 stainless steel (Ugima ä ) and are available as rising and non-rising types. Stems are of ample cross section to prevent buckling and are capable of withstanding, without permanent deformation, twice the rated output of the operator (manual operation rated at 180N rim pull). Stems are supported so that the L/r ratio for the unsupported portion of the stem does not exceed 200.

Watergates hydrostatic pressure relief valves are the latest development in effective relief of ground water pressure. The valve combines grade 316 stainless steel and PVC plastic for high corrosion resistance and ease of installation. The PVC socket end allows any desired length of PVC pipe to be inserted then set in place. The debris screen keeps gravel out of the unit and structure. The all stainless steel 316 body, stainless steel 316 guide rod and cover lid with neoprene seat ensures that the Watergates PRF is the most suitable and effective hydrostatic relief valve available. The valve will open at approximately 125mm differential head and has an approximate k factor of 10.

The KGVF1 fabricated Knifegate range is a specially engineered to order designed product and provides a low cost alternative for large diameter, low pressure water and wastewater applications.

The KGVF1 conforms to AS6401:2003 and consists of a fabricated stainless steel body with integral flanges drilled and tapped to AS4087:1993, retained neoprene resilient perimeter and top seals, UHMWPE body liners complete with neoprene o-rings, a heavy duty stainless steel polished gate and an optional fabricated bonnet on the KGVF1-B.

The dynamic neoprene top seal is vastly superior to traditional packing glands used by most competitors to seal around the top of the gate.

The KGVF1 range is designed for operation by manual, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic actuators either above ground or buried service with a rising or non-rising stem.

Sizes available range from DN750 to DN1200 or larger and are designed and manufactured to suit the application and duty.

The W series wedge gate is a high quality, engineered to order product, designed to suit high off-seating head duties. They are suitable for water and wastewater applications, specifically pump station wet well inlets, and other extreme duty applications requiring superior sealing for drip tight closure.

The W series wedge gate consists of a robust frame designed to withstand the specified maximum on and off-seating head pressures and operating forces. The dynamic neoprene seal is set at an incline and is mechanically fixed to the frame spigot with a retaining ring and bolts making it easily replaceable. The sliding gate is designed and suitably stiffened to withstand the specified head pressures. The gate houses polymeric bearing guides which slide over the frame side guide tracks. As the gate approaches full closure it contacts and begins to compress the seal through the wedging action. By full closure the seal is compressed achieving zero leakage. There are minimum grooves and cavities to catch debris hence the gate may be left open for many years and will close effectively in dirty and silt laden environments. Where flow control is required, cone deflectors and V-orifices can be provided. This increases control at small percentage openings.

The W series wedge gate is fabricated using grade 316/316L stainless steel. However, may also be supplied in marine grade aluminium, grade 304 stainless steel, duplex or super duplex stainless steels. These materials provide excellent corrosion resistance while the gate bearing tracks provide a low co-efficient of sliding friction during gate operation.

The W series wedge gate is generally used for upward opening applications. However with minor modifications, downward or sideward opening are also available. They can be operated manually or with electric, hydraulic or pneumatic actuators with rising or non-rising stems. The W series can be supplied as either wall or flange mounted with circular, square or rectangular openings.

When considering civil works, a minimum of 150mm is required below the opening to allow for the frame and gate closure.

Ludowici is set to revolutionise the mining industry with its enhanced Reflux Classifier RC2020, developed in partnership with the University of Newcastle's Professor Kevin Galvin.

Our enhanced Reflux Classifier RC2020 for fine coal and minerals applications comprises a new, more easily scalable design incorporating a new 'laminar high shear rate' mechanism.

Shear Gates

The SG Shear Gate is a high quality, heavy duty product, designed to suit high head, water and waste water applications and are engineered for excellent sealing whilst providing excellent resistance to corrosion.

Shear gates may be manufactured from either marine grade aluminum or grade 316/316L stainless steel. A dynamic neoprene seal is fixed to the body surrounding the aperture and provides optimum sealing while maintaining a good resistance to chemical attack.

An operating handle is fitted to the gate to allow operation from the floor level above. A bushed 316ss hinge pin allows the gate to pivot to a fully open position and wedges are provided to force the gate onto the seal in the closed position.

Sieve Bends

The Ludowici Sieve Bend is used in various applications to screen particles using non blinding stainless steel wedge wire screen.

Ludowici construct Sieve Bend Assemblies for classifying and dewatering applications. Our "sieve bends" are particularly popular with food, paper pulp and coal industries, however the uses for this product are extensive.

Sieve bends require no assigned operating crew and little or no regular maintenance. The screen panels can be reversed to allow long lasting performance in applications where an abrasive product is being processed.

We offer hydraulic or pneumatic tilting systems, as an option, for raising and lowering the sieve bend cradles, reducing labour requirements and improves safety.

Split Panel Sieve Bends

For situations where sieve bend panels are over 1500mm wide Ludowici MPE provide a product to make handling safe and easy. Split panels can be designed and used in the majority of cradle designs.

Vertical Fine Coal Centrifuge

This design of vertical centrifuge is used extensively throughout the Australian and international coal industries.

The Ludowici FC 1200 Fine Coal Centrifuges has a maximum nominal capacity of up to 80 tonnes/hour for -10mm material.

This type of centrifuge was originally developed in the USA, has been extensively used throughout the Australian and international coal industries for most of the 20th century.

Ludowici has substantially upgraded this basic machine design resulting in the advanced Ludowici FC1200. The FC1200 is of robust construction and has advanced design features that result in extended service life and ease of maintenance, all contributing to a lower total ownership cost.

Some design features of the FC1200 include pressurised lubrication system for long bearing life, lubrication failure protection, re-useable oil filter with built in magnet, blocked filter bypass indicator, large throat opening for greater throughput, abrasive resistant wear parts as standard supply, 16 conveying fins for greater dewatering, heavy duty construction and easy belt change.

Brute Force Feeder (BRU)

  • The Ludowici BRU Brute-Force Vibrating Feeders and Grizzly’s are your solution to troublesome primary crushing installations.
  • These machines are specifically designed to handle primary mineral streams containing maximum lump size of up to 1500 mm.
  • They are extremely robust and utilize heavy duty hard-faced liner panels, out of balance Exciter Mechanism drive units to ensure high ‘G’ force operation, and are installed on special heavy-duty rubber springs to minimize excessive movement caused by head-loads and impact.

Medium Duty Feeder (UF)

The Ludowici UF medium duty Vibrating Feeders are typically used to handle lighter minerals (coal, aggregate, sand, etc.) at feed rates ranging between 50 – 2500 t/h.

These feeders work best with relatively free-flowing and pre-sized (-250mm) material, delivering positive straight-line motion and consistency throughout due to high ‘G’ force operation.

The UF feeders are suitable for either floor mounting or cable suspension and come in sizes from 0.4m up to 3.3m wide and 0.75m to 5.0m in length.

PGM Feeder

Ludowici/Malco PGM Feeders are heavy-duty, high capacity vibrating feeders designed for use in arduous conditions such as primary materials handling applications. The PGM feeders are suitable for installations under large hoppers and can withstand head-loads and impact caused by large material lumps.

The feeder is driven by a twin-shaft, geared mechanism which delivers high "g" force and constant acceleration even under load, ensuring there is no capacity or throughput variation. A single, free-standing electric motor is connected to the mechanism either by a vee-belt drive arrangement or a cardan shaft.

Feeder installation is between horizontal to 10 degrees inclined and mounting is on heavy-duty steel coil springs.

Endless Loop Belt

Ludowici manufactures a choice of drum-built, endless belts with premium abrasion-resistant natural and synthetic rubber covers to maximize wear. Our belts are used in a number of stock piling and ship loading applications.

The panels can be supplied acid dipped or electro-polished depending on your surface finish requirements.

The wedge wire has a number of options including the size of the wire and the open area between the wires. Variations to the number and size of the backing rods depending upon the structural strength required and the shape of wire panel, are available to suit the range of applications.

Wedge wire is available in 304 and 316 Stainless steel and Ludowici technicians are able to guide customers with material selection.

Moulded Rubber Panel

Ludowici Modular Rubber Panels come in a range of options covering all of the popular modular standard sizes. We can also custom make panels to suit many unique and diverse applications using both synthetic or natural rubber compounds over a wide range of durometer hardnesses. LVT Screens

Cyclones

Hicb Crusher Backing

Ludowici HICB is a two component pourable epoxy grout suitable for backing crusher liners, grouting machinery, locking bearings or setting anchor bolts.

Flap Gates

Heavy Duty H1 Series

The F-H1 flapgate is a high quality, heavy duty product, designed to suit high to very high head, water and wastewater applications including pump discharge.

The F-H1 series is fabricated from marine grade aluminium or grade 316/316L stainless steel. These materials provide excellent corrosion resistance. The F-H1 series consists of a heavy duty frame and flap suitably designed and stiffened to withstand the specified pressure. Dual hinge arms each with dual bushed pivots together with an inclined seating arrangement ensure positive seating of the flap. The neoprene seal provides optimum sealing and resistance to chemical attack. The F-H1 range can be supplied as either wall, flange or spigot mounted for either circular (FCA) or rectangular (FRA) openings.

Sizes available range from 300mm to 2400mm or larger and are designed and manufactured to suit the application.

Potable Water Seals

Ludowici manufacture a wide range of potable water seals for the pipe seals industry using the latest in vacuum moulding machine technology. These parts are manufactured to Australian Standard AS1646 and British Standard BS_EN681:1 for which the company has accreditation.

Technical assistance is available to customers during component and die design supported by our on site registered NATA laboratory and ISO9002 accreditation. Sizes range from 80mm in diameter up to 750mm in diameter and examples of the types of potable water seals include:
