laxmi flush door manufactured by madras chipboard ltd. , uses a chipboard
core consisting of wooden chips dried to stable moisture content and
bonded with phenol formaldehyde resin under high temperature and pressure. The board thus formed is dimensionally stable and has equal strength in all directions, unlike ordinary wooden boards.

our technological edge

selected species of hardwood reapers are used to make the frames of the door. these reapers are impregnated with non-toxic chemicals to make them termite and borer proof. This process is called full cell vacuum process.

the reapers are then subjected to controlled drying in the kiln seasoning process. Here steam supplies the necessary heat and humidity to bring down the moisture content to about 8-10% which is the stable level for most species of timber.

the chipboard core is fitted with the reaper frame and covered on both sides with a cross band veneer followed by a face veneer, with phenol formaldehyde resin and hot pressed at 130 - 150 in special hydraulic presses. The finished door is thus a 5 ply construction.

broadly, there are two kinds of flush doors - the hollow core door with a timber frame covered over with plywood hardboard and the solid core door. the latter may have either a large number of timber reapers, or a single particle board forming the core. We at madras chipboard ltd. , have chosen solid particle board as the core for our laxmi flush door in view of its strength, sturdiness and durability.


particle boards are manufactured with selected species of soft and medium hard wood particles: the particles are dried, graded and mixed with phenol urea formaldehyde resin and pressed at high temperature and pressured into boards of required thickness. as the particles are carefully graded and glued together with thermosetting resin, there are no voids to harbour insects and fung
