Type EC

Magpower Electromagnetic Single Face Clutch Type EC is a “Normally Off” Type Clutch. It has 2 basic parts. The stator which consists of a coil and a rotor faced with friction material, and the Armature plate.

When current flows through the Clutch Coil, the Armature plate is attracted to the rotor with friction material thereby transmitting the torque and is released immediately due to a sinusoidal wave spring, when no current is passing through the coil.

These Clutches are used for Dry Applications only.

Features :
  • These Clutches are designed for simple mounting and easily adaptable to any mounting requirement as it is manufactured in varied designs.
  • The sinusoidal wave spring enables a backlash free transmission, enabling very short response time on disengagement.
  • The friction faces are completely separated by the Spring eliminating any drag and permitting use at very high idling speeds.
  • These units are practically maintenance free due to the Stationary Coil and Highly Wear Resistant friction surfaces.

Type EB

Magpower Electromagnetic Single Face Brake Type EB is a “Normally Off” Type Brake. It has 2 basic parts. The stator which consists of a coil and friction material, and the Armature plate. The braking torque is produced by means of the electromagnetic force which is developed when the current flows through the brake coil, thus attracting the Armature plate to the stator with friction material, thereby arresting the motion and is released immediately due to a sinusoidal wave spring, when no current is passing through the coil.

The Bearing Mounted Clutch Type BMC is a “Normally Off” type Clutch. It has 2 basic parts, the bearing mounted stator consisting of a coil and a rotor faced with friction material held to the stator by means of the bearing, and the Armature plate. When current flows through the Clutch Coil, the Armature plate is attracted to the rotor with friction material thereby transmitting the torque and is released immediately due to a sinusoidal wave spring when no current is passing through the coil.

  • The Bearing Mounted Clutches are specially designed for Shaft Mounting and Centering is automatic.

  • The Clutches are designed for simple mounting and easily adaptable to any mounting requirement as they are manufactured in varied designs.

Magpower Linksys are manufacturers of Clutches and Brakes which are intended for Start-Stop applications. These brakes and clutches work on the basic principle of Electromagnetism. They come in various types to meet different requirements.

Type CBO

The Clutch-Brake combination Open Type assembly consists of Magpower Normally Off type Clutch and Brake. The armature arrangement is a duplex disc type on a common splined hub, which moves axially along the splined hub, thus self compensating for wear and resultantly maintains its operating characteristics.

These units are less expensive compared to our Type CBE as the combination is provided without the enclosure and can be incorporated where space availability is critical.

The Encased Clutch-Brake Combination Type CBE assembly embody Magpower Normally Off type Clutch and Brake. These units are robust and compact in construction and fully enclosed protecting the clutch and brake from dust and dirt. The armature arrangement is a duplex disc type on a common splined hub, which moves axially along the splined hub, thus self compensating for wear and resultantly maintains its operating characteristics.

Features :
  • These are available in Foot Mounted and Shaft Mounted Models. These units are pre-assembled, convenient packages for mounting directly.

Type FSB


Magpower Spring Applied Brakes Type FSB are typical fail safe brakes.

Its braking torque is produced by spring pressure and the brake is released electromagnetically.

When there is no current flowing through the brake coil, the fail safe operation of the brake is derived from the braking torque generated by the spring pressure. When current flows through the brake coil, the spring pressure is neutralised by the developed electromagnetic force, which enables the brake to be released.

They are suitable for dry applications only.

These brakes are thus safety brakes coming into, action in the event of a power failure, arresting motion instantaneously.

Features :

  • Magpower Spring Applied Fail Safe Brakes incorporate a telescopic tubular wear adjustment system which facilitates easy maintenance. Alternatively, these brakes can also be provided with spacers, wherein the airgap is preset and can be initially mounted without any adjustment.
  • Individual Spring pressure adjustment permits precise setting of braking moment.
  • A low level of wear owing to the use of an abrasion resistant friction material and a large friction area.
  • Manual release is provided as an additional features which enables the brake to be released mechanically, in case of power failure.
  • The brake have short switching time and operate in milliseconds.
  • Seals are provided to prevent the ingress of foreign matter, thus ensuring a long life and smooth functioning of the brake.
