MARTIN Industries Our firm i.e. Martin Industries have been established in 1984, started as a mechanical engineering manufacturing unit in a small rented shed measuring 74.322 m² at Ultadanga, Kolkata – 700 067 in 1986.
Our major production consist of manufacturing & supplying Ammunition components to various Ordnance Factories spread across the length and breadth of the country. The components are being manufactured as per the drawings & specifications of Ordnance Factories. In early 2004 we thought of diversifying into the Auto Components market, both domestic as well as export, but our existing factory space was only 74.322 m², which had no space left for installation of new machines. Hence in May 2004 we bought around 1494.995 m² of Land at Hariharpur Village, P.S. Baruipur, 24 Parganas (South), where we have shifted in June 2007. We have currently 408.773 m² of covered space, which is going to expand to 765.892 m² of covered space, sufficient to install new machines, apart from the existing ones .
The Export Automobile component market is 50 billion dollars annually. Even if we manage to capture 0.1%, that would be quite substantial for a small enterprise like ours. Keeping the Export Market in view we have upgraded our Quality Management System by getting certified to ISO 9001: 2000 during 2006.
Hence the move to Hariharpur, so that we can increase our production facilities and be able to take advantage of the burgeoning Auto Components market, i.e. domestic as well as international. We are in a small scale sector. We have a machine shop consisting of Universal Milling Machine, Lathe Machine and CNC Lathe Machine. 8 Nos. Capstan Machines from 12mm capacity to 38mm capacity. Our Press Shop consists of Power Presses and ball presses. Our distinctive competence is in precision machining of small components and components requiring deep draw operations.
