Profile

Just before the end of second World War, king of Mayurbhanj in the state of Orissa established a modern plant for manufacture of Porcelain Insulators. The plant is at Pratapgarh in the district of Mayurbhanj surrounded by beautiful hills of Badampahar; Sulaipat and lush green fields. With the help of experienced technical persons highly sophisticated High Tension Porcelain Insulators are manufactured to fulfill customer's requirement. The consumption of electric energy has steadily increased during the last few decades. In order to achieve an efficient distribution of electric energy, the system voltage on transmission lines has been continuously increased. Few years ago only few transmission lines were operating using a system voltage of 400KV, whereas today several 800KV, transmission lines are in operation and further, intensive research is being carried out on transmission lines with system voltage of 1500 KV or even higher.

Among the porcelain, the electrical porcelain used for insulator is the highest grade. Outstanding features include the following: white colour, non-porous, high insulating properties, high mechanical strength, almost chemically inert, and very high melting point. To maintain electric insulation, zero moisture absorption is necessary. The routine check for zero moisture is conducted by the porosity test. Any penetration of dye into the body of the dielectric causes the lot to be rejected. Insulators must support heavy transmission lines and withstand the mechanical load as a part of power apparatus structures, thus necessitating high mechanical strength as well as high insulating properties. These requirements can be achieved only through combining basic research, design, and quality control, and by employing modern manufacturing techniques.

Marur Speciality

An insulator can be no better than the porcelain. Mayur never compromise with the substandard raw materials. Physical & chemical analysis is performed on each consignment received from the mines. Grain size is controlled. Moisture in the Filters Press Cakes is controlled. Every meter length of the rolls, coming out from the De-airing Pug Mill is checked for "Vaccum". Tools are designed to give the desired dimensions. Controlled drying is done to have the minimum stresses in the Porcelain. Above all, Mayur never forgets that the primary function of "Hardwares" or any insulator assembly is to load the porcelain with least possible harm to it. Finally, these ceramic skills offer maximum reliability for the future.

By placing the right equipment in the hands of technical and production personnel & understanding customer's needs excellence in quality is achieved.By welcoming innovation and providing an environment that fosters creative solutions, customer's requirement is fulfilled.

Porcelain

Powdered ceramic raw materials quartz, feldspar, pyrophyllite and clay are mixed after a proper amount of water is added, resulting in a plastic dough like material which can be formed into a desired shape. Firing the shaped body in a high temperature causes it to increase in hardness and durability. This process is called sintering, by the degree of which fired bodies are classified into following three kinds, the lowest-earthenware, the moderate-stoneware, the highest-porcelain. Porcelain is a widely used industrial material because of its mechanical and electrical properties. It is almost chemically inert and has a high melting point.

Mayur Quality And Methods

Mayur insulators and allied materials areas per Indian Standard specifications. These include dimensions where specified, electrical characteristic, strengths, test equipments and procedures. All definitions and terms are in accordance with the appropriate standards. All acceptance tests are to be based on latest Indian Standards otherwise specifically mentioned.
