About UsThe company was established in the year 1965 by Mr. Prakash Chandra Sharma in the name of ‘Prakash Box Factory’. Initially the company started manufacturing ‘Playing Cards’ and the main brands then were Prakash, Mary, and 222. For the last 40 years Prakash Box Factory is the sole manufacturer of playing cards in the entire northern India. In the year 1995 the next generation of Mr. P.C. Sharma decided to enter the business stream and they found Incense Sticks (Agarbatti) manufacturing an attractive business stream. The office and works (Maa Kamakhya Darbar Fragrance Pvt. Ltd.) were started off from a small portion of their residence in Kidwai Nagar (Kanpur). They initial product was marketed by the name of ‘Ekta’ which soon became a fastest selling agarbatti brand in Uttar Pradesh. Later, two other brands ‘Tiranga’ and ‘Shraddha’ were also launched. In the years to come the three brands gave stiff competition to the well established Incense stick brands of Karnataka. Eventually ‘Tiranga’ will break the monopoly of the brands from South India and will become the highest sales revenue generating incense stick (Agarbatti) brand of India After becoming the most widely used Incense Stick Brand of the country, moving up-market was an obvious choice. Premium Incense Stick Brands under the umbrella of Tiranga were launched to cater to the needs to customers who emphasize on quality. Greenwood, Gulab, Mogra, Sandal, Rajnigandha, Sai Shraddha, and Ziyarat were launched to provide more depth to the product line of the company by providing different products. The business ethics of the promoters helped to build strong ties with the distributors. As the promoters say it - “Distributors are our family members and not just business associates” and they are proud to declare that this ‘family feeling’ is mutual. This strong bond built on mutual faith is the key to fair and long lasting business relationships. We stay committed to continue with this ideology. |
Aim / Vision / MissionThe key to successful business is value pricing i.e. provide better quality product at a competitive price. If a business can provide consistent quality product, at value price, and can provide a robust service network, a successful brand is sure to evolve. The company is aiming to have a universal presence. There are plans to make Tiranga a global incense stick brand. The Company intends to register its presence in all the countries that import or have decent incense stick consumption. We never compromised with the quality of the brand and to ensure that we remain competitive on price, saving avenues in purchase (procurement of incoming material) and manufacturing were sought. Strategies like - long term bulk purchase contracts with the supply vendors, developing multiple vendors for labor intensive raw material sourcing like draw sticks, and integration of production process resulted in savings that helped the company cut back the production cost and enjoy the comfort of uninterrupted and punctual supply of raw material.
Quality Policy / ProcessesTo ensure consistent product quality, rigid quality inspection norms were implemented at every stage of production and procurement. Raw material undergoes ‘incoming quality inspection’ at the time of delivery, there are guidelines for the minimum quantity of ‘expensive input material’ (essence etc.) that must be consumed during production of a batch of incense sticks, and sample checks are conducted to ensure that the right quantity goes in each box that reaches the customer. The competition has increased many folds, yet Tiranga Group has been able to provide products at extremely competitive prices. The company could do so due to its integrated manufacturing approach. Tiranga is probably the only incense stick brand which is manufactured, packaged, and marketed under one roof. Even the packaging material is processed in the same premises in its very own printing press utility. The offset printing press facility is completely dedicated to in house jobs and is equipped with the most modern printing, cutting, pasting, and stacking machines. Presently, the facility is capable of printing more than 50000 boxes per hour.
