Dental Implants

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a "root" device, usually made of titanium, used in dentistry to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth to replace missing teeth. Virtually all dental implants placed today are root-form endosseous implants, i.e., they appear similar to an actual tooth root (and thus possess a "root-form") and are placed within the bone (endo- being the greek prefix for "in" and osseous referring to "bone"). The bone of the jaw accepts and osseointegrates with the titanium post.

Dental implants can be used to support a number of dental prostheses, including crowns, implant-supported bridges or dentures. Implant surgery may be performed as an outpatient under general anesthesia, oral conscious sedation, nitrous oxide sedation, intravenous sedation or under local anesthesia by trained and certified clinicians including general dentists, oral surgeons, periodontists and prosthodontists.

Cosmetic Dental Materials

A wisdom tooth, in humans, is any of the usually four third molars. Wisdom teeth usually appear between the ages of 16 and 25. Most adults have four wisdom teeth, but it is possible to have more, in which case they are called supernumerary teeth. Wisdom teeth commonly affect other teeth as they develop, becoming impacted or "coming in sideways." They are often extracted when this occurs. About 10% of the population do not develop wisdom teeth at all.

Loose Teeth Problem

Loose Teeth Problem

Looseness, mobility or mobile teeth are caused by a disease of the periodontium and includes the tissues surrounding the teeth which are the gingiva, the bone supporting the teeth and the fibrous attachment between the bone and teeth.

What are the causes of Loose Teeth ?

Infection: When there is accumulation of food debris and bacteria on the tooth, inflammation of gingiva develops due to infection. Inflammation from the gingiva spreads to the fibrous tissue between the teeth and bone and finally it affects the bone. Inflammation and destruction of bone affects the foundation on which the teeth stand causing teeth mobility. Uneven and increased amount of force during chewing can affect the tooth.

Teeth In One Day

A relatively new concept in dentistry, teeth in one day is based on the use of dental implants to replace missing or irreparably damaged teeth. The teeth in one day method can be used to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or all the teeth, depending on your needs.

Typical dental implants take 3 to 6 months or more to heal before they can support new teeth. With careful planning, we can often replace missing teeth with remarkable comfort, predictability and aesthetics in just one day. With only a few exceptions, patients seeking a quick, "permanent" solution can be accommodated.

With teeth in one day, you can visit our office missing any number of teeth and leave the same day with a completely new tooth or set of teeth that are firmly anchored—not dentures or removable temporaries.

Periodontal/ Gum Disease

Periodontal/ Gum Disease

Gum disease or periodontal disease, a chronic inflammation and infection of the gums and surrounding tissue, is the major cause of about 70 percent of adult tooth loss, affecting three out of four persons at some point in their life.

What causes gum disease?

Bacterial plaque - a sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on the teeth-is recognized as the primary cause of gum disease. Specific periodontal diseases may be associated with specific bacterial types. If plaque isn't removed each day by brushing and flossing, it hardens into a rough, porous substance called calculus (also known as tartar).Toxins (poisons) produced and released by bacteria in plaque irritate the gums. These toxins cause the breakdown of the fibers that hold the gums tightly to the teeth, creating periodontal pockets which fill with even more toxins and bacteria.

Children Dentistry

Your Child’s First Dental Visit

Your child should visit the dentist by his/her first birthday. You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. Your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and his staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. The fewer to-dos concerning the visit, the better.

It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as needle, pull, drill or hurt. Pediatric dental offices make a practice of using words that convey the same message, but are pleasant and non-frightening to the child.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Full Mouth Rehabilitation

What is a full mouth reconstruction?

When you have many broken, worn and multiple missing teeth, then a full mouth reconstruction may be required. This will often require every tooth to be restored with a combination of veneers, crowns, inlays, on lays, dental implants and dental bridgework.

At the my dentist dental clinic we have the experience and expertise to bring together the various advanced dental disciplines required to create full mouth reconstruction that not only look great but they function correctly, are healthy and will last for many years to come.

Full mouth reconstruction is the use of many methods of dentistry to create the correct relationship between gums, bones, muscles and teeth. The mouth is a complex machine; without a proper bite, chewing can become impaired, teeth can become worn, the jaw and neck can become sore and even migraines can occur. Dental bonding, porcelain veneers and crowns, dental implants and teeth whitening are all potential procedures used in a full mouth reconstruction.
