Talc, the softest of all minerals is known to everyone because of talcum powder. The softness, flakiness, and stability of talc makes it a desirable substance for many purpose. In industry it is mainly classified into hard & soft and fibrous & flaky. It is a platy mineral used for its reinforcing properties. Talc is commonly used as the functional filler for the plastics, and as an extender & pigments for paints. Finely ground talc is widely used in the polypropylene industry for its reinforcing properties. In plastics it adds to the stiffness, dimensional stability, flexural modulus and resistance to creep. It also contributes to good flow, surface appearance and easier machinability of polymers. In plastics, the primary use area of talc is in Polypropylene (PP). Mica is a mineral which combines in itself so many desirable properties for the qualifications imposed by the electrical industry. The most important property of Mica is its micaceous structure, that is, they have highly perfect basal cleavage which permits it to be split into sheets & films. Micas commonly occur as flakes, scales, or shreds. Sheet muscovite (white) mica is used in electronic insulators (mainly in vacuum tubes). Ground mica is used in paint, as joint cement, as a dusting agent, in well-drilling mud, and in plastics, roofing, rubber, and welding rods. The platelet particle shape of Mica offers excellent flexural modulus properties, improved heat resistance, electrical properties and mechanical properties. General reinforcing property and dimensional stability also adds to Mica's advantage. It's major use are in Polyolefins.

China Clay is also known as "Kaolin", and is a white, aluminosilicate widely used in paints, refractories, papers, plastics, sanitary wares, fiberglass, adhesives, ceramics, and rubber products.

Calcite is the stable form of Calcium Carbonate at ordinary pressure and over a large range of temperature. The varieties of calcite are very numerous, and diverse in appearance. They depend mainly on differences in crystallization, structural condition and presence of impurities, etc. Limestone, Marble & Chalk are the different varieties of calcite depending upon the crystallization and accidental impurities. Calcium Carbonate finds its application as a value added filler in polypropylene (PP) due to its wide range of particle size, low cost, good color, low oil absorption characteristics, higher impact resistance, glossiness, smooth surface finish, easy processing, good dimensional stability, and its free flowing characteristics.
