Micro Engineering Works has developed MICRO Tapping Machines as versatile High speed bench type precision and sensitive tapping machines. PHSTM-TC4-404 -- for upto 4mm dia. PHSTM-M10-5010 -- for 5mm to 10mm dia. Their hardened and ground spindle is driven by a specially designed pulley is driven by a F.H.P., single phase mains operated motor to attain High Speed Tapping. The machine provides a stepless Electronic regulator to achieve low and high RPM accordingly. Precision High Speed spindle bearings are housed in accurately lapped bores of its hardened and ground spindle of the main pulley, which forms the basis of extremely accurate machine operations. Conveniently placed control, compact design and precision geometry are some other features. The machine is useable with Three Jaw Key tightening chuck. The spindle is driven by a flat endless belt over stepped pulleys. The upper portion of the cover can be raised to facilitate changing over the belt, whilst the lower portion, locked by a cross nut, slides to take up the belt tension, The spindle, rotating in adjustable ball bearings, is mounted in a hardened and ground quill carefully lapped into the drilling head. The drilling lever, adjustable for length & Position, actuates the movement of the quill. The head is raised or lowered on a cylinderical column equipped with rack, the total travel of 200 & 280mm being effected by a cranked handle inserted in the face of the machine. The method of displacement employed prevents the head from descending under its own weight and a clamping system locks it to the column. Adjustment of the drilling depth is affected by means of a scale and graduated drum.
