Testing FacilitiesIn accordance with requirements of Technical Documentation of ASTMs, Engineering Specifications, International Standards Specifications all the production of AISI undergoes the following kinds of check: - 1) Visual inspection of external and internal tube surfaces 2) Visual inspection of external and internal surfaces is stipulated by the requirements of applicable Standard Technical Specifications and is obligatory for all kinds of tubes. 3) Inner surface control 4) Instrument check of inner tube surface is carried out by means of endoscope along the full length of tube with x4 magnification of section of examined surface. The tubes small with inner diameter not permitting endoscope usage are checked at short samples taken from these tubes and cut along the generatrix. 5) Wall thickness control 6) Check of tube wall thickness is done at both ends of tube by means of tube micrometer MT -0-25. If specific Technical requirements are stipulated by the Customer, such control can be carried out in a continuous way by automatic ultrasonic devices. Outside diameter control 7) External tube diameter is checked In several cross sections of tube with micrometer MK depending on tube diameter or by fixed calibrated gauge not less than in two opposite cross sections. The automatic control of external tube diameter is carried out by ultrasonic equipment simultaneously with the check of wall thickness and tube metal homogeneity 8) Inside diameter control 9) Check of inside diameter is done at both ends of tube manually by special gauge, prepared ace. to the Specification requirements. Automatic control by ultrasonic equipment is used only for the tubes with severe applications 10) Tube straightness control 11) Straightness of tubes is insured by production process used at ASTM.accordance with Standards or Customer requirements the measurements are carried out manually by using specific gauges and inclined plane at which tubes are rolled down 12) Tube length control 13) The length of tube is checked by means of tape-measure, taking into account the tolerances stipulated by the Specification, when tubes are cut to fixed lengths the measuring is carried out using the length specimen 14) Steel quality control 15) Correspondence of chemical composition to steel qualities is guaranteed by the manufacturer of the billets 16) Chemical composition of round billets arriving to the mill is checked for conformity with steel quality using two control methods: qualitative method of styloscoping and quantitative chemical analysis
Product ApplicationApplication | AISI Type | Characteristics | Typical Applications | | 302 | General purpose stainless steels. | Widely used for severely formed parts. For welded construction and heavy wall vessels formed in a number of draws for welded construction. | | 304 | General purpose stainless steel especially for welded construction. | Due to its good resistance to corrosion, good cold workability and good weld ability, this steel is widely used for household goods, dish washers, cutlery, in the consumer good industry, in architecture, in the automobile industry, etc, in addition it is used for the construction of apparatus and containers in the dairy, beer, wine and food industries as well as in the production of nitrogen compounds 304 is approved for use as well as wall ties in the building industry. | | 304L | Low carbon modification of typo 304, restricts carbide precipitation during welding. | Ensuring superior results in overcoming the problem of carbide precipitation in the weld zone without post annealing. Can be used in range of 420-8200C for up to 4 Hrs, without becoming susceptible to intergranular corrosion. | | 321 | Stabilized 18/8 type with titanium: - not sensitive to intergranular corrosion within the carbide precipitation range of 420 to 8700C, corrosion resistance comparable to 304. | Due to addition to titanium to |
