Pavizham is the generic name of rice & rice products produced by 14 individual industries located in about 50 Acres at Aimury in Koovappady Village. Various varieties of rice & rice products come out of these factories day in and out. The marketing arm of these companies is Pavizham Healthier Diet (Pvt) Ltd., Apart from rice & rice products the company also markets Tamarind,salt,coconut oil, rice bran oil etc., These units are owned by various members of the Nambiyattukudy family and the current patriarch Mr.NP George is referred as Chairman and his brother NP Antony as the MD. Their father Late Mr.Pappachan entered into conventional rice milling in early eighties, and before he could witness the modern rice mill he had established operational he departed to heaven. The brothers thereafter jointly along with their mother and other members of the family built up the rice milling empire as the people see now. Innovative ideas, uncompromising stand on quality, a humanistic approach based on Christian values has over the years seen the various units flourishing and prospering. Modern milling machineries imported from China, a co-gen power plant, a waste water treatment plant based on CSIR technology make the mills unique. Company is a pioneer in various value addition options for rice & its by-products.

We are being treated as the provider of the rice of the traditional taste of Kerala due to its superior quality and affordable price. High Nutritional value sortex rice and rice products are being manufactured using high end technology to meet our customers needs.

I & my brother were not privileged to learn the business scruples from the B Schools. We learnt it from our father who taught us that, it is the quality of your product that ensures your market presence not the advertisements you churn out. This position has been achieved through the hardwork of our Production as well as the enthusiastic marketing strategies of our Marketing Team. In Kerala, our products have been top sellers in the Districts of Trivandrum, Quilon, Pathanamthitta, Alleppey, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Kozhikode. While there has been significant increase in the sakes, turnover in other Districts of Kerala and even in the neighbouring States of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the turnover in the nine Districts mentioned has been at an all time high. We wish to not only become the top sellers in the other districts too but at the same time effect further increase in sales in the nine districts also. We are aware that all major rice dealers in the above Districts are getting rice from the Nambiyattukudy Group because of the superior quality maintained for the products throughout the year to meet the required standard of the consumers. The management plans to still increase the quality of the products in order to attract the best client who deals in rice and rice products. Simultaneously, the Group also intends to bring in new technology and new Machines for the processing of paddy and hulling of boiled paddy, thereby keeping the Vitamin contents in rice.

Philanthropic Values: NAMBIYATTUKUDY PAPPACHAN MEMORIAL TRUST

Nambiyattukudy Pappachan was a survivalist. He had neither inheritance nor education to fall upon. He has a wife, three sons, George, José & Antony and a sister to them Susan. And he had to find their bread from his sweat. He did lease farming, traded in agriculture produce and whatever he could lay hand on. He always looked for opportunities. His wife was good at bamboo matting and together they rowed their boat of survival and existence. In the late 70s, when people around him took to rice milling as a backyard activity, he too jumped to the fray. And he had a vision, rice milling in a big way with modern machines, transport vehicles and the like. His sons joined him. He bought land in God forsaken villages at throw away prices, and drove away foxes and snakes. He bought a second hand rice mill, dismantled and shifted to his newly acquired land. He had plans but fate made him succumb to an accident when his first modern rice mill was under construction.

Not disheartened, his children George & Antony took over from where he had left. Their first modern rice mill, Nambiyattukudy Rice mill that used a locomotive boiler came into being in 1992, a rarity at that point of time. Within one and half decade, five more mills were added to their account. These were: Nambiyattukudy modern rice mill, Nambiyattukudy Agro Industries, Nambiyattukudy Agro Mills, Nambiyattukudy Food & spices, along with food processing units like Star foods & Godwin food products. Their turnover and asset holdings grew.
One thing that the late Pappachan was particular about was that his workers must be looked after well. He also believed that charity and prosperity are complementary. If you practice the first the later will follow. Both George & Antony liberally donated Cash & kind to orphanages, old homes, for medical assistance to poor, for sponsor education of the deserving, providing matrimonial assistance and houses for the homeless. They patronized every philanthropic activity that their Church conducted. Prompted by their mother, the brothers thought on an Institution that shall commemorate the memory of their late father. And this resulted in forming of a public charitable trust, viz., Nambiyattukudy Pappachan Memorial Public Charitable Trust registered in October 2003, with a corpus fund provided by Mrs.Aliya Pappachan, their mother. Ever since the formation of the Trust most of the charitable & Philanthropical services of the family are routed through the Trust and the audited accounts of the Trust show that up till now (31-3-2007) Rs320,723 has been spent on charitable activities as follows.
