About UsThe NEW ALLENBERY WORKS (NAW). An ISO-9001:2000 company belongs to Messrs. Deepak Industries Ltd. The group has its presence in Engineering and Textile, boasts to be the pioneers in manufacturing of Industrial Gearboxes in the country. Situated in the heart of the city of Kolkata, India. The day to day operation of NAW is being managed by the CEO, duly assisted by a team of professionally competent technocrats and other professionals. NAW was first to manufacure worm Gearbox in the country in the year 1959 with its own design. However, in order to achieve excellence and manufacture Gearboxes of world quality products NAW entered into a Licence Agreement with John Holroyd of Milnraw, U.K. during 1962 to acquire technical know-how as well as special purpose Machine Tools such as HOLROYD make Tangential Hobbing, Worm Milling as well as Worm Grinding Machines, Hob Sharpening and Fly-Tool Grinding Machines, Lead and Profile Checking Machine etc. During the Agreement period, the technology of not only Worm Gear Boxes but also that of Special Design Hob Cutter, Fly Cutter were assimilated by NAW and Product Range, under the brand name of "ALLROYD?", was launched conforming to BS 721 Class 'A' quality standard. The Licence Agreement was for the sizes of 1/8" to 12" Centre Distance (12 sizes) & Reduction Ratio of 5:1 to 70:1 (11 Ratios). However, NAW developed another 9 sizes on its own later on to meet the demand of high power ratings. Today only NAW makes largest size Worm Gear Set of 41" CD and caters to the demand of Power Plants. Similarly NAW makes Gear Sets of any reduction ratio, which could be possible because of in-house manufacturing of Hob Cutters. |
AchievementsDuring the tenure of the various Licence Agreement, the technical personnel of NAW visited at respective collaborators' plants for training. At the same time, the collaborators also provided technical training to the personnel of NAW at Kolkata works. By this process the personnel of Design and Research & Development, Process Engineering, Quality Control, Manufacturing discipline assmilated the technology of respective products. The experience and expertise, so acquired, was sufficient to become self-sustained and, therefore, did not go for extension after the expiry of respective Licence Agreement. NAW, on its own, started meeting the industrial demand either by using standard and proprietary product-mix or by manufacturing tailor-made Gearboxes for almost every type of industry inclusive of those in core sector as well as infrastructure based few of them being Gearboxes to maneuver country's first telescope installation at Ooty, first satellite installation at Arvi, Hydraulic Reversible Marine Gearboxes for respective Port Trust and Indian Navy for Launching utility craft. Zero backlash Gearbox for Rocket Launching Pads etc.
