Getting the mathematics together it can be guestimated that India will require an additional 300 million square feet of quality retail space by 2011, and most of this incremental space will emanate from over 1000 tier II towns & rural hubs across the country.
It is estimated that by 2010, there will be investment to the tune of Rs.2,00,000/- crores in quality retail space in India. This will be distributed not just across shopping malls, but across new high streets, big box, hyper markets & stand-alone stores.
PICTURE THIS.
Quote: Unlike the experience in most other countries growth of Indian retail is not going to be a staggered & time taking process India has already shown the world how quick it can adapt to hi-tech products & services & will again set a record of sorts in setting up world class retail formats across the country in record time
