Concrete Test Hammer

This is intended for non-destructive testing of the quality of concrete in finished structures. In testing, the rebound number is measured, which is dependent on the strength of the mortar (concrete with coarse particles) close to the surface. Since the strength of the mortar as a rule determines the strength of the concrete, the rebound number gives an indication for the strength of the concrete. The results obtained are ±15% of the actual compressive strength. As the test does not destroy the specimen, the curing process continuing after setting of concrete the be followed up accurately.

Slump Test Apparatus

Confirming to ISS-7320. This apparatus used for the determination of workability of concrete where nominal size of aggregate does not exceed 38 mm. The apparatus comprises of a slump cone with foot pieces fitted on a base with wing bolts. Compaction Factor Apparatus

This is designed primarily for use in the laboratory but in suitable circumstances, it may also be used in the field. Tile Abrasion Testing Machine

The tile sample is pressed under a specified load against a grinding path, strewn evenly with an abrasive power revolving at the rate of 30±1 revolutions per minute. The wear of the tile is measured using a thickness gauge.

This is for determining the bearing capacity of sub-grade soils or for compaction control and meets the requirement of ASTM D-420. Consists of a sturdy handle under which is fixed a sensitive proving ring. An extension piece is fixed on to the bottom of the proving ring and carries the detachable penetration cone at its tip. Proving ring capacity  is 130 kg and the .002 mm dial indicator  is  provided, indicates the penetration load applied with a sensitivity of approx. 1/2 kg. division. The procedure, as recommended in various standards, is for determining the quantity of water required to produce a cement paste of standard consistency. The standard consistency is attained when the 10 mm plunger of the apparatus penetrates the material to a pre-determined depth under free-fall. Rapid Moisture Meter - 25 Or 50

For quick determination of moisture content of materials in powder from i.e. soil sand, coal, pottery, ganister, cement etc. A weighed quantity of the substance under test is placed in the body of the tester together with a measured quantity of absorbent and the tester is then sealed and shaken vigorously thereby bringing the sample and the absorbent into intimate contact. The pressure of gas liberated by interaction of moisture in the sample and absorbent actuates the gauge which is directly graduated in percentage moisture on the wet weight basis. A conversion chart is provided for converting percentage moisture content on the wet weight basis to percentage moisture on the dry weight basis.The unit consists of a pressure vessel with clamp for sealing cap rubber sealing gasket, dial gauge calibrated in percentage moisture content to 25 % on the wet weight basis, counter poised balance for weighing sample, scoop for measuring absorbent, bottle of absorbent, cleaning brush. Unconfined Compression Tester (Spring Type)

The apparatus has been developed on the basis of the design of British Building Reasearch Station by L.F. Cooling and H.Q. Golder. It is a simple and portable apparatus and is used in both laboratory and field for testing unconfined compressive strength of undisturbed specimen of cohesive non-fissured soils taken from a bore hole, a trial pit on opan excavation. A specimen of 38 mm dia x 76 mm long is placed in between two plates and the load is applied by means of hand operated lead screw which expands a calibrated spring. The load deformation curve is plotted autographically by a recording pencil moving across the chart. Strength figurs can be determinated from the completed chart by super imposing a specially calibrated transparent mask over the chart.

This is for determining the shear strength of both remoulded and undistrubed soils. It consists of a torque head adjustable in height to enable the vane to be lowered into the specimen. Rotation of the vane is by mean of a hand wheel which operates a worm gear arrangement turning the upper end of a calibreted torsion spring. Two rates of rotation are incorporated. The vane shaft is attached through the hollow upper shaft to a reset table pointer, Which indicates the angle of torque on dial graduated is degree. It is designed to determine the swelling pressure developed by a soil specimen moulded to desired densities at known moisture contents, when soaked in water.The load applied to restrain the swelling is transfered to a load measuring proving ring through a perforated swell plate and a load transitor bar. Cross Flow Heat Exchanger Apparatus

The cross flow heat exchanger is air-to-air type heat exchanger. On both hot and cold sides, air flow is generated by centrifugal blowers. Hot air is obtained by passing air over a bank of finned tubes. The air then flows to heat exchanger section i. e. a bank of finned tubes. Hot air flows through tubes while cold air flows over the tubes at right angle to hot air. The apparatus is designed to determine, the Stefan Boltzmann constant. The apparatus consists of a hemisphere fixed to a Bakelite plate, the outer surface of which forms the jacket to heat it. Hydraulic Ram Test Rig

Apparatus consists of a close circuit through which water is circulated continuously by means of a centrifugal pump of 25 mm x 25 mm with 0.5 H.P. motor to make the supply from sump tank. A
sump tank 125 cm long, 80 cm wide and 40 cm high fabricated on M.S. angle frame with 3 mm thick M.S. sheet is provided. Inside of the tank is lined with FRP. A drain valve of 15 mm size is provided in the bottom of the tank.

A supply tank 50 cm x 50 cm and 100 cm high fabricated with S.S. sheet with over flow arrangement, gauge glass tube and 15 mm size drain valve is provided. Inside of the tank is lined with FRP. The tank has the provision for fixing the supply pipe of 50 mm dia of which other end is connected to the ram. The tank is supported on a stand
fabricated from M.S. angle.

For the supply head of 2.5 m, the discharge head of the ram will be 15 m (approx.) the discharge will be 360 LPH. A pressure gauge is provided with a regulating valve on the delivery side of the ram (delivery pipe is of 15 mm dia) so that much greater head of water can be observed and obtained by the adjustment of the shifting  valve provided in the ram assembly. Lifted water can be collected by the help of a collecting tank of 30 cm x 30 cm and 30 cm high. The tank is provided with gauge glass tube, flow diverting arrangement and a drain valve of 25 mm size. Waste water can be measured by the help of another collecting tank. The tank is provided with gauge glass tube, flow diverting arrangement and a drain valve of 15 mm size.

Necessary G.I. piping system & flexible pipe of suitable size, necessary fitting and control valve are provided with the apparatus.

The present set-up consists of a runner. The buckets are mounted on the runner. The water is fed to the turbine, through SS nozzle with a SS spear, by means of Centrifugal Pump, tangentially to the runner. Row of water into turbine is regulated by adjusting the spear position by the help of a given hand wheel The runner is directly mounted on one end of a central SS shaft and other end is connected to a brake arrangement. The present set-up consists of a scroll casing housing a runner. Water enters the turbine through the stationary guide vanes and passes through the runner axially. The runner has a hub and airfoil vanes, which are mounted on it. The water is fed to the turbine by means of Centrifugal Pump. Separating And Throttling Calorimeter Apparatus

SEPARATING CALORIMETER

It consists of two concentric chambers, the inner chamber and the outer chamber, which communicates with each other through an opening at the top. As the steam discharges through the metal basket, which has a large number of holes, the water particles due to their heavier momentum get separated from the steam and collect in the chamber. The comparatively dry steam in the inner chamber moves up and than down aging through the annular space between the two chambers and enters the Throttling Calorimeter.

THROTTLING CALORIMETER

It consists a narrow throat (Orifice). Pressure and temperature are measured by pressure gauge and thermometer. The steam after throttling process passes through the heat exchanger and condensate is collected. Steam Generator is also provided to supply the saturated steam (Max) at 2kg/cm2 pressure. There is no need of boiler.
