Safety Shoe are a steel-toe footwear that has a protective reinforcement in the toe area, usually combined with a penetration resistant sole plate, which protects the foot from falling & rolling objects and punctures from below.
Although traditionally toe cap & sole plate were made of steel, this is now also available in non metallic composite material which is blend of two or more material. Steel-toe footwear important in the construction, engineering, chemical, service industry and in many other settings. Occupational safety and health legislation requires employer shall ensure that each employee uses safety footwear when working in areas where there is a danger of foot injuries due to falling or rolling objects, or objects piercing the sole, and where such employee's feet are exposed to electrical hazard and may mandate certification of such personal protective equipment and the display of such certification directly on the boots. In Europe, certified safety footwear bears a CE marking on them. In India they are marked IS 15298 which is almost similar to EN 345 (CE Mark).
Safety footwear now comes in many styles. Some are quite formal. Safety footwear with the use of modern direct injection technology is no more a punishment for user. They are now very light weight & highly comfortable with added advantage of slip resistance.
