The pulp and paper industry is today at crossroads facing the serious problem of supply of raw material that are predominantly forest – based fibers, WOOD and BAMBOO.

The fast depletion of these conventional raw materials without planned afforestation is a threat not only too this industry but also to the entire eco-system causing concern to every discerning human being.

The coverage of forests, which was around 30% in the fifties, has been reduced to 16% of the total land mass. Even if one keeps the problem of ecological imbalance apart, this by itself is not sufficient to meet the demand. The situation hence needs a probe into alternative materials.

To maintain our quality standards, we have a quality check team that keeps a constant vigil on all stages of production process. They ensure that all the cotton rags are properly cleaned to remove impurities. Beginning with the initial stage of sorting to the final stage of cutting of handmade paper, all the processes are carried under the supervision of quality experts. Once the finished products are ready, they are checked and cross checked thoroughly before they are supplied into the market.

How Is Handmade Paper Made At Our Unit?

We use a major part of 100% cotton waste and fiber to manufacture handmade paper. This waste management process involves:

• Sorting:
In this process, the cotton rags source from hosiery mills is carefully cleaned to remove any impurities or dirt.

• Beating:
The cotton rags are precisely beaten into fine pulp. Any kind of colors or dyes or any chemicals that is used fro blot free paper is to be added during in this process.

• Lifting:
The fine pulp of cotton rags is made into sheets. This is done by lifting it on a vat that is a structure of wooden frame and stainless steel wires.

• Hydraulic press:
These sheets are then hydraulically pressed that helps in removing water and also speeds up the drying process. This pressing and drying process also assists in strengthening of the sheets.

• Calendaring:
This is the second last process in making handmade paper. The dried sheets are passed or run between two heavy steel rollers that provide uniformity of thickness and better shine on the paper.

• Cutting:
In the final manufacturing process, these handmade sheets are cut into different sizes as desired by the clients. The industry standard size at our unit is 22 * 30 inches.
