Calcined Bauxite
Minerals used in Saw Flux Calcined Bauxite:
Bauxite is the principal ore of aluminum, composed mainly of hydrous aluminum oxides and aluminum hydroxides. These minerals are gibbsite, boehmite, and diaspore. Bauxite is a weathering product of aluminous rock that results from intense leaching in tropical and subtropical areas, a process called laterization. This bauxite is heated at a very high temperature to get calcined bauxite.

Kaolinite is a clay mineral with the chemical composition. It is a layered silicate mineral, with one tetrahedral sheet linked through oxygen atoms to one octahedral sheet of alumina octahedra. It is a soft, earthy, usually white mineral, produced by the chemical weathering of aluminum silicate minerals like feldspar. Rocks that are rich in kaolinite are known as china clay or kaolin.
Bentonite is an absorbent aluminum phyllosilicate generally impure clay consisting mostly of montmorillonite. It is available as Bentonite (N a. Ca )O.33( AI.Mf! )2Si40 1 O( 0 H)2'(H20) n. The absorbent clay was given the name bentonite by an American geologist sometime after its discovery in about 1890 - after the Benton Formation (a geological stratum, at one time Fort Benton) in Montana's Rock Creek area. Two types exist: swelling bentonite which is also called sodium bentonite and nonswelling bentonite or calcium bentonite. It forms from weathering of volcanic ash, most often in the presence of water.
Aluminum Silicate is lightweight and is super white in color. It has high degree of brightness, low plasticity and ease of dispersion. It has low density and very low moisture content. It can partially replace Ti02 to give cost reduction. It acts as a good anti-settling agent. It maintains constant viscosity on storage. Aluminum oxide is a good thermal insulator and electrical insulator. In its most commonly occurring crystalline form, called corundum or a-aluminum oxide, its hardness makes it suitable for use as an abrasive and as a component in cutting tool.
Micaceous iron oxide is a rare mineral which occurs in the mines of iron oxide itself. It exists in patches or layers in iron oxide and needs to be separated from the main mineral to use it efficiently.
Feldspar is the name of a group of rock-forming minerals that make up as much as 60% of the Earth's crust. Feldspars crystallize from magma in both intrusive and extrusive rocks, and they can also occur as compact minerals, as veins, and are also present in many types of metamorphic rock. Feldspars are also found in many types of sedimentary rocks.
Quartz is the second most common mineral in the Earth's continental crust. It is made up of a lattice of silica (Si02) tetrahedral. Quartz has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale and a density of 2.65 g/cm3. The ideal crystal shape is a six-sided prism terminating with six sided pyramids at each end. Quartz is a common constituent of granite, sandstone, limestone, and many other igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks.
Coarse calcite is also known as chalk powder or natural calcium carbonate. Its color is bright white and has nodular particle size with crystalline structure. The carbonate mineral calcite is a chemical or biochemical calcium carbonate corresponding to the formula CaC03 and is one of the most widely distributed minerals on the Earth's surface. It is a common constituent of sedimentary rocks, limestone in particular. It is also the primary mineral in metamorphic marble. It also occurs as a vein mineral in deposits from hot springs, and also occurs in caverns as stalactites and stalagmites.
The mica group of sheet silicate minerals includes several closely related materials having highly perfect basal cleavage like biotite mica etc. All are monoclinic with a tendency towards pseudo hexagonal crystals and are similar in chemical composition. Micas are widely distributed and occur in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary regimes. Scrap and flake mica is produced all over the world. The flake mica comes from several sources: the metamorphic rock called schist as a by product of processing feldspar and kaolin resources, from placer deposits, and from pegmatite.
Graphite (named by Abraham Gottlob Werner in 1789 from the Greek ypacpc: tV (graphein): "to draw/write", for its use in pencils) is one of the allotropes of carbon. Unlike diamond, graphite is an electrical conductor, and can be used, for instance, as the material in the electrodes of an electrical arc lamp. Graphite holds the distinction of being the most stable form of solid carbon ever discovered. It may be considered to be the highest grade of coal, just above anthracite, although it is not normally used as fuel because it is hard to ignite. Graphite and graphite powder, is valued for industrial applications, for its self-lubricating and dry lubricating properties.
