Solar cooking is less laborious and more leisure generating mode of domestic cooking. The time taken to cook food in solar cooker may seem to be more as compared with other traditional method. Surely solar cooking takes about 60 minutes to cook entire meal of 3 items for an average family of 3-4 members on bright sunny days. The cooking can start from morning 11 a.m. till 2.00 p.m.
Working Principal:
Solar Cooker, with its four anodized reflectors open, is placed in the sun in such a position that sunrays are perpendicular to top glass (this can be achieved through shadow post). The black surface of the inner tray and the food pot absorbs and traps sun’s heat inside the cooker. The temperature inside the box increases upto 180ºC, which is adequate for cooking. The trapped heat energy is transferred to food in the food pot and the food gets cooked.
Due to pressure cooker concept the pressure inside the cooker increases the boiling point of water, resulting in faster cooking. The double walled glass lid and the rubber beading does not allow heat to escape.
Solar Cooking Time is Fun Time; Free Time:

Once the food is loaded in the cooker, it needs no attention and intermittent stirring; and frees the cook to do whatever she/he would like. Scorching or burning of food and boiling over of cooking medium as in conventional cooking are eliminated altogether. Thus Solar-cooking time is fun time; free time without any tensions or hassles.
Solar Cooking is Healthy Cooking: Solar cooking is a slow process allowing chemical reactions in food to be completed while developing and enhancing natural flavour, aroma and sweetness in foods.
Solar Cooking is Money Saver: Solar energy is zero cost fuel. In other words, no fuel bill is to be paid for solar cooking food. Solar cooking for 250 days, saves Rs. 1000 on Kerosene oil / Coal etc.
Solar Cooking is Easy Cooking: Solar cooker is a simple device; easy to operate and maintain. It has no moving parts. It needs no lighter, no matchbox. But, it needs to be handled with care due to its lids with Glass and reflecting panels. A little care goes a long way in getting trouble free and maintenance free performance for a long time.

Fix clamps on module frame and hand tighten the module frame on the horizontal pipe. The vertical pipe can be secured on a Top of pole, such that the module when facing south direction will not be shadowed. Shadows should be avoided, since it will reduce energy produced by the module and the Street Light cannot be used for the desired time. After locating and south pointing the module face tighten the check nut on vertical pipe. Tilt the face of the south facing module and adjust it to approximately an angle to horizontal equal to latitude of the site location. Tighten U Clamps on module frame.
Note : For sites in India (located in Northern Hemisphere), PV Modules must face south and must be tilted at an angle equal to latitude of the place where it is used. Likewise, users in southern hemisphere must orient module face to North and adjust tilt angle equal to latitude.
Open circuit Voltage - 21V at STC
Peak On-load Voltage - 16.40V

Peak Power - 74.00 Wp
Solar Photovoltaic: Photovoltaic (PV) electricity is produced directly from sunlight when photons (light particles) are absorbed in a semi-conductor and create an electric current. PV power generation requires no fuel and is an environment friendly and cost-effective energy source. Solar Photovoltaic works on the principle that when sunlight falls on silicon cells, it generates electromotive force. When such single cells are connected in series and parallel in a definite number, it produces the desired voltages.
Solar Street Light: It is a independent lighting device suitable for either indoor or outdoor lighting. The daily mean operating period is 12 hours with average daily solar insulation of 5 Kwh/Sq.m. on horizontal surface. It consists of a CFL, Lead Acid Battery, with battery box electronic circuit all housed in a insulated body and a suitable SPV module with mounting arrangement and cable for connection to the Street Light.
Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL): The CFL is a low-pressure gas discharge lamp and is provided with 2 cathodes, which contain emissive materials. When the cathodes are heated, they emit ions. When a ignition voltage is applied across the two cathodes, the lamp starts burning. CFL is an energy efficient fluorescent discharge lamp. It is a 4 pin CFL, OSRAM make, 11W & 18W day light, fitted in a base down configuration to the housing with suitable socket. The total lumen output is 900 ±5%.

Why Solar:
A solar heating system for your pool is an economical alternative to expensive conventional heaters. Solar collectors capture free energy from the sun and use it to heat your pool. They extend your swimming season and reduce monthly fuel bills without depleting non-renewable fossil fuels.
Most swimming pools require some type of heating, whether to bring the pool up to temperature in the winter, to maintain a desired temperature during the swimming season, or to extend the swimming season. You can use conventional gas or electric heaters, but you may have large monthly bills from your local utility company. Another option is to install a heating system that captures the free heat of the sun. Solar energy is a renewable domestic fuel that's widely available. Today, solar pool heating systems can be cost competitive with conventional heaters. Their advantage ... very low operating costs.
Another option is to install a heating system that captures the free heat of the sun. Solar energy is a renewable domestic fuel that's widely available. Today, solar pool heating systems can be cost competitive with conventional heaters. Their advantage ... very low operating costs. The most cost-effective use of solar energy today is to heat swimming pools. Swimming pools require low temperature heat, which is where solar collectors are most efficient.

"Parkash Solar" is a flat plate type of Solar Water Heater. It is made of an aluminium body with a toughened glass sheet in front to allow the sun’s rays to pass through. Under the glass sheet is the heart of “Parkash Solar” – a series of black selectively coated copper fins and riser tubes. The space between the copper fins and tubes and the aluminium box is well insulated with pads of rock wool.
Working principal: The sun’s rays passing through the glass sheet fall upon and are absorbed by the black copper fins and riser tubes. The cold water within the copper tubes absorbs this heat energy and is then stored in the insulated storage tank, which prevents the heat from escaping. The system works under 2 principles which are given below :
Thermosyphon: In this system, the cold water at the bottom of the collector moves through the riser tubes to the top as it gets continuously heated, from where it passes to the insulated storage tank. This process is repeated through out the day as long as the collector is exposed to direct or diffused sunlight. The Thermosyphon system operates only on the available solar energy, and it requires neither maintenance nor any external energy source.
Forced Circulation: Here the cold water flows through the riser tubes, where it is allowed to get heated to the desired temperature, and then forced out of the riser tubes with the help of a pump and control instruments. This system is more versatile and is recommended where hot water is required all through the day.
Installation Instructions: The collectors must be installed facing due south and tilted at an angle which is equal to the latitude of the location plus 15°. This is done in order to ensure that the system operates all year round at the highest possible efficiency. The collector orientation should be within 30° East or West of true South and Plus or Minus 10° of the optimum tilt angle.
It must be ensured that the collector surface is not shaded at any time. The location of tall trees, building etc. must be kept in mind before choosing the location.
The solar collectors can be mounted on almost any surface such as flat roof, sloping roof, ground, etc. The location of the collectors should preferably be as close to the user point as possible in order to ensure that plumbing is kept to a minimum thereby reducing cost and increasing system efficiency. Energy Calculations: The “Parkash Solar” solar water heating system uses the Sun’s energy to heat water upto a temperature of 85° C, for various applications. As the Sun’s energy is free, there are no operating expenses making “Parkash Solar” extremely cost effective.
