Surface Sensors

By leveraging our expertise in optics, lasers and lighting, we continue to provide innovative sensor options such as digital tricam surface sensor and contour sensor.  Our tricam sensors are designed to accommodate multiple materials, painted surfaces, ambient lighting and plant floor installation.

The digital tricam surface and contour sensor for 2D features:

• Captures the shape and position of the projected laser line
• It strikes the contour of the surface being measured
• The soft-ware calculates highly accurate two-dimensional (Y, Z) re-sults
• Typical measurement features include edges, corners, range, cylinders, as well as gap width & flushness
• Performs a dual measurement
• one or two Digital Tri-Lites (Perceptron’s proprietary LED flood lights) illuminate the surface, allowing the sensor to locate the feature (a hole, for instance), in X-Y space
• The sensor projects a laser line of light and triangulates on it to compute the range (Z) value
• The software combines the X, Y, Z data and calculates the center of the hole, slot, or rectangle
