Testing Procedure

The theoretical failure rates of motors ranges from 25,000 to 13,00,000 hours depending on the temperature. We require few samples to test for MTTF. The minimum samples required for statistical purposes is 24. All the samples are homogeneous. Hence, 16 samples were put to test. They were loaded to 70% of their rated torque. Due to economic consideration, chopper drives were not used & the motors were run on voltage drives drawing more current than rated. The motors run continuously and periodic measurement of temperature were taken.
