Poptan LR is versatile in application. 

·         In dyeing as levelling and lightening agent for anionic dyes, especially suitable for medium to pastel shades.

·         For the fixation of cationic dyes and fatliquors.

·         As dispersing agent for vegetable tannins and in retannages with anionic and nonionic resin tannins. Promotes the penetration and distribution of the tannin while simultaneously improving the dyeability and penetration.

Properties:

Appearance               : Very light, yellowish-brown powder, readily soluble in                 water.

Chemical Character  : Sodium Salt of an aromatic sulphonic acid, anionic.

Active Ingredients      : 96%

pH of 10% solution    : 7-8

Application :

·         Dyeing pale and pastel shades with anionic dyes :

POPTAN LR  is used here as a levelling and brightening agent. It is added at the beginning of the dyeing about 10 minutes before the dye is added, either dissolved in a 1:5 ratio or in powder form. It can also be added directly together with the dye, in which case the dyeing is lightened somewhat less.

Medium to pale shades                 0.2-1%

Pastel shades                                            1-3%

·         Fixation of cationic dyes and fat liquors :

Additional fixation of dyeings or toppings with cationic dyes and cationic fatliquors can be obtained by an aftertreatment with POPTAN LR. It is added to the exhausted dyeing or fatliquoring bath.

Amounts : 0.5-1% POPTAN LR on shaved weight.

·         Vegetable tanning :

Poptan LR disperses the vegetable tannin , largely prevents the formation of undesired sludge and speeds up the through – tanning process.

Amounts in drum tanning :   2-10%

A fine creamish white powder based on special compounds having 96% active contents.

Applications:  

Poptan BFR is an alkaline powder with very fine particle size. It is uniformly  but sparingly soluble in acid solutions. So it is an extraordinarily excellent self  basifying agent for chrome tannages as its addition to chrome tan bath increases the pH very gradually which can be controlled by the amount added. So it offers a completely safe method for controlling the basicity of chrome tannage thus totally avoiding regular and close supervision required in case of other common alkalis used for basification.

It is added soon after the penetration of chrome. An addition of 0.3-0.5% Poptan BFR  on pelt weight is sufficient for normal pickle-chrome tan process although minor adjustments in pickle acid and amount of Poptan BFR  for correct balance may be required. However, once this is obtained the process can be allowed to proceed safely with very little control for 6 hours to get the required pH level and boil test.

Advantages:

• Poptan BFR  regulates a gradual increase in pH without initial rapid increase normally observed with sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate etc., leading to perfect and levelled chrome distribution throughout the cross section of collagen and a smooth and light coloured grain.

• Its fine particle size totally eliminates the risk of abrasion to the pelt and ensures best results.

• Poptan BFR  reacts with sulphuric acid to give only soluble salts. Alkalis based on calcium when used lead to formation of insoluble calcium sulphate in the pelt, which has a detrimental effect on the dyeing and can result in white stains on dyed leather.

Storage:  

Can be stored under normal conditions and has an indefinite shelf life. Some cake formation may occur if it is stored in warm and humid conditions, but this does not affect its chemical activity.

Popbate -AC  is an enzymatic bating agent which works in acidic range. Popbate -AC  is a versatile bating agent based on proteolytic enzymes for all types of leather. This is an optimal blend of proteolytic enzymes from animal and microbial sources. The tailor made formulation has lipolytic side activity which will help in removing the fatty tissues adhering to the skin and thus facilitating an optimum bating action.

Advantages :

Popbate –AC is a bating agent for use between pH 3.5-4.5. It serves for bating of limed and pickled pelts as well as enzymatic slackening of wet blues and vegetable synthetic crust leather. Use of Popbate -AC  yields following effects :

·         Preserves the hide substance and gives the leather a very tight grain.

·         Maintains substance even in areas such as flanks.

·         Improves the feel, the uniformity of colour and firmness of grain.

·         Good scud loosening, smooth grain strongly fallen pelts. Auxiliary agents may be used for further improvements in scud loosening.

Application:

It is to be dosed at 0.4-0.8% of the pelt weight. Popbate -AC  shows maximum activity at pH between of 3.5-4.5. The pH should be constantly maintained during bating and formic acid diluted 1:10 should be added if the pH rises above 4.5
