Air-cooled turbogenerators are represented by three types: TA, ТФ and T3Ф. They cover the range from 1.5 to 350 MW.

• ТА - turbogenerators with indirect air cooling of the stator and rotor windings and direct air cooling of the stator core.

• ТФ - turbogenerators with direct air cooling of the rotor winding and the stator core, with indirect cooling of the stator winding.

• ТЗФ - turbogenerator with air cooling according to a three-circuit system.
  Forced air cooling system unites all three types.

Turbogenerators with direct water-cooling of stator and rotor windings, with indirect water-cooling of stator core iron and filling of generator space with air at a pressure close to atmospheric one.

The design of the completely water-cooled turbogenerators is explosion-and-fire-proof and does not require fire-extinguishing means. T3B-type turbogenerators possess the highest reliability, improved ability for frequent startups and overload capacity thanks to low heating and vibration levels, absence of shaft oil seals, fans and gas-coolers built into the stator.

Features of turbogenerators of ТВФ-series:

• Cooling of stator winding - indirect hydrogen-cooling;
• Cooling of rotor winding - direct hydrogen cooling according to self-ventilation system;
• Cooling of stator core iron- hydrogen cooling;
• Insulation of stator winding - on thermosetting binders;
• Insulation of rotor winding - based on glass cloth and heat-resistant varnish.

These turbo generators are designed for compensation of excessive reactive power in the power system and prevention of voltage increase in the power grid to a level dangerous for the electrical insulation of electrical equipment.
