It is based on five therapies that help in removing or eliminating toxins from the body.

Different Stages:

Panchkarma Treatment is conducted in three stages:

• Poorva Karma

• Pradhan Karma

• Paschat Karma

Here various Ayurvedic drugs are used to improve appetite & digestion. The treatment includes:

• Rukhshan

• Deepan pathan

• Snehan

• Swedan

• Deepanpalhan ( Apitiser & Digestive)

Snehan (Oleation) - Oleation: It is of two types- Internal & External.

• Internal oleation consists of administration of ghee / oil / fat to individual for prescribed period of time depending upon constitution of the patient

• External oleation known as Abhyanga (message) is a remedy for relieving body ache, generalized weakness, obesity

SWEDAN (Formulation):

It is a procedure of inducing sweating with or without the use of heat. Its advantages include:

• After the mobilization of Doshas & Toxins - by Snehan - hot formulation liquefies them and opens up the channels, preparing the body for elimination

Main five procedures of Pradhankarma are:

• Vaman (Theropeutic emesis)

• Virechana (Theropeutic emesis)

• Basti

• Nasya

• Raktmokshana

Finer details of Pradhankarma:

This includes:

• Samsarjan Karma

• Parihar Kala

• Rasayan Chikitsa

SAMSARJAN KARMA:

• This is a special dietary regimen for specified period of convalescence

• In this diet is planned in such a manner that on I^st day diet should be more of liquid contents & then reducing the contents & after a prescribed period of time patient would come to the normal diet

Advantage:

• It is recommended to increase digestive powers
  

PARIHAR KALA:

• This is the period after Panchkarma Therapy

• In this period person has to follow Precautions like Diet, Life Style and Brahmcharya

RASAYAN: 

• After Panchkarma Drugs acts more quickly and chances of relapses of diseases are more

• Rasayan is administered for same purpose that helps in maintaining the health
