IndiaMART Contributes to Community Cause: Organises Blood Donation Camp for Thalassemic Patients

New Delhi, 12th December 2005 - IndiaMART.com held a blood donation camp at its Head Office and development center at Noida for the Thalassemic patients in coordination with the Indian Red Cross society and Thalassemics India. "Unfortunately, not all of us realize how widespread such diseases are. And anyone of us can be a carrier, or can have a family member suffering tomorrow. I think as corporate citizens, it is a responsibility of all business organizations, big and small, to come forward and do their bit in helping the society," said Mr Brijesh Agrawal, Chief Operating Officer- IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd.

"Thalassemic patients need blood transfusion every 15 days. It can be very difficult and expensive for the guardians of such patients to arrange for blood so frequently. And if the blood group is a rare one, it becomes all the more difficult. We are happy that IndiaMART came forward for the cause." said Dr J S Singh from Indian Red Cross Society.

"I had some myths about donating blood and was apprehensive. After seeing my colleagues donating blood, I too volunteered and am feeling great about it now!" cheered Amandeep, 23, an employee at IndiaMART.

There was excitement and enthusiasm in the young workforce at the IndiaMART facility as they volunteering for blood donation. " We have collected blood from over 30 donors in a matter of a couple of hours! To our delight, the very first donor at IndiaMART- Divya had a rare B -ve blood group," said Mrs Rekha Arora from Thalassemics India.

"IndiaMART has been contributing to various philanthropic causes in the past. This is the first time we organized a blood donation camp at the organizational level. At IndiaMART, we will make this a regular practice and imbibe the philosophy in all our employees," added Mr Agrawal.
