first religious e-commerce site- www. SGPC.net

is the latest addition to the long list of accounts developed by
IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd.. The e-commerce enabled site is
the pioneer in providing all the possible religious services on
the net there by bringing the Sikh community the world over onto a
single platform.
Inaugurating the site on 15th
July, 2000, at Amritsar, Bibi Jagir Kaur Ji, President
SGPC, told that "the site would offer all the possible
facilities as a means to bring the Sikhs the world over a step
closer to each other." The site carries the most advanced and
secure e-commerce features.
On this dynamic site, the visitors
can send e-donations for Harmandir Sahib, Langar, Education,
Hospitals, etc. through credit cards. The amount of these
donations will be automatically deposited in the SGPC account
through secure payment gateway.
There are facilities for performing
Akhand Paths in the Harmandir and other eminent
Gurdwaras, for which the devotees have to make bookings and wait
in queue for long. Now, through the site, SGPC offers online
booking of these holy Akhand Paths to be performed at
various Gurdwaras by submitting the offering in advance. Moreover,
any devotee willing to get a room booked in the Sarai, can
do so very easily through this site by depositing the specified
'Bheta'.
Apart from this a large number of
cyber-services and rich content have been offered through the
site. It will carry monthly publications of S.G.P.C.,
Gurudwara Gazette, Gurmat Prakash,
Shiromani Bulletin and all the tracts meant for distribution to
spread the message of sikh religion, ethos values, code of
conduct, culture etc in Gurmukhi as well as in English. The
e-commerce site also offers books related to the religion.
The site is available for
search on more than 500 most advanced search engines the world
over. Sgpc.net would offer a number of e-commerce applications
through a secure payment gateway set-up on a VERISIGN
certified gateway.

Committee has also commissioned its own leased line to
ensure 24 hours connectivity with the cyber-world. SGPC plans to
use this 64 kpbs leased line to install five cyber-cafes in
the Sarais, so that the devotees may send and check
e-mails.
