Deep Tow System
SIS-3000 Sea floor Imaging System
System Overview
The Datasonics SIS-3000 Sea floor Imaging System incorporates Chirp acoustic technology with available marine sensors to provide a 3000M survey platform capable of fulfilling the most sophisticated survey requirements. The SIS-3000 furnishes the end-user with the base capability of Chirp side scan/sub-bottom, and position sensors including heading, pitch and roll. as well as a full suite of optional sensor. In addition to the sophisticated sensor package, the Shipboard Workstation/ Processor allows display, storage, and processing of all parameters including post-processing for mosaics and targets.
System Features Chirp Technology
The SIS-3000 utilizes Chirp technology in the (90-110 kHz) frequency band for side scan sonar and (2-7 kHz) for sub-bottom profiling. The SIS-3000 digitally synthesizes and transmits a linearly swept, frequency-modulated (Chirp) pulse with resolution proportional to transmitted bandwidth?not pulse length. The longer duration transmission and wide bandwidth pulses result in higher resolution and extended ranges. In addition to extended range and significantly improved resolution, the Chirp signal processing results in reduced transducer ringing and spatial side lobes for further improvement in Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). Additionally, by implementing an inverse Chirp pulse technique, cross talk is reduced by -40 dB, virtually eliminating the problem.
