Quadrant Surlon s General Engineering Plastics and Advanced Engineering Plastics portfolio developed up over the decade, includes the broadest range of standard and custom shapes for machining in terms of materials and dimensions. Quadrant Surlon materials enhance performance and service lifetime. Our unique polymer technology extends the performance boundaries of standard engineering plastics in machined parts. The extra high levels of performance improve the productivity, efficiency, quality and life of equipment beyond the limits of standard materials. Our ranges of materials comply with FDA and other standards, and resist a variety of chemicals and solvents, temperatures and mechanical loads. For requirements outside this delivery program, Quadrant Surlon offers custom-designed stock shapes (natural or coloured PA, POM, PET, PC, UHMW-PE, PP, PPE, PMP, TPE, PBI, PAI, PEEK, PPS, PPSU, PEI, PES, PSU, PVD, etc.) enhanced with or without fillers or reinforcements (PTFE, PE, glass fibres, carbon fibres, aramid, etc.) upon request. Quadrant Surlon also provides extensive technical support and application development and guarantees a constant flow of innovative products and new applications to the market. Quality Policy / Processes
Superior products begin with superior raw materials. MediTECH uses GUR® premium resins from Ticona, specified for use in surgical orthopaedic implant applications. This highly pure resin complies with standards ASTM F648 and ISO 5834-1, and exhibits excellent biocompatibility with skin, blood and tissue. Even so, the resin undergoes rigorous testing prior to use in the manufacturing process. We have instituted a series of tests and implemented quality control measures to produce converted materials that far exceed ASTM F648 and ISO 5834-2 requirements. MediTECH’s operations are certified to ISO 13485 worldwide. US and German operations are additionally certified to meet ISO 9001 standards. MediTECH’s manufacturing approach is based on a cellular manufacturing system that incorporates all processes, from resin handling to extrusion and compression molding, annealing/heat treating, finishing and packaging. These self-contained environments, combined with systems such as closed loop resin handling, eliminate the introduction of contaminants to insure we provide the cleanest product to the industry. Utilizing MediTECH’s skilled personnel and highly refined processes within these manufacturing cells, we insure that both Chirulen® and Extrulen® are the most consistent, high quality products available for use in your applications.
MediTECH® invests heavily in advanced technology research, as well as new process and product development. Our focus on incremental improvement and break-through innovation helps bring continuously improving products and services to you. Our state-of-the-art polymer research, analysis and testing lab – one of only a handful worldwide – provides you immediate access to testing equipment and lab staff who have 30+ years of expertise in the processing, manufacturing and testing of UHMW-PE. This on-site, knowledgeable staff allows us to work closely with your R&D team to develop and implement new technologies. It has also given us the opportunity to become experts in scaling products from the R&D phase to full scale manufacturing, whether the project is in our facility or yours. Consistently at the forefront of new technology development within the orthopaedic implant industry, we worked closely with implant manufacturers to develop advanced crosslinking technologies and bring this family of products to market. The first to adapt inert annealing techniques for UHMW-PE in this market, MediTECH®’s expertise in thermal stress relieving and other post-sintering processes make Chirulen® and Extrulen™ easier to machine to exacting tolerances. Current engineering and R&D focus include the development and investment in state-of-the-art pressing technology, as well as work with industry researchers on free radical elimination and further improvements in inert processing capabilities.
