Transalation Stages

Stage should provided backlash free height control with submicron repeatability over 0 to 25 mm by spring precision machined wedge block to convert micrometer horizontal travel to stage vertical travel with 2: 1 reduction for optintum resolution with vertical tracking accuracy better than 1 micron /mm of travel Base mounted with slots on both the side .

This vertical transalation stage provides one with an alternate and simple method of predisely position /components and holders in the vertical direction . Precision groun steel balls ride between two precision ground “v ”grooves to form the slide ways.

Vertical Translation Stage is essentially a shortened version of the standard translation stage. mounted on its end and controlled by a micrometer actuated tangent arm. Precision ground steel balls ride between two precision ground "V" grooves to form the slide ways. The ways- arep re-loaded to the stage by a light pre-loadedfit to prevent side play and end-to-end wobble. The 10/15/25 & 50 mm maximum vertical motion is imparted to the stage by a metric micrometer through a one -to one right angle tangent arm Angular displacement errors at the input end of the tangent arm are exactly cancelled by the congruent geometry at the out put end of the arm two hardened steel hemispheres implanted in the end of the arm ensure point contact.

Vertical preload (to prevent backlash) is provided in the down ward direction by an internal tension spring . Micrometer position may be locked with the knurled sqeeze nut on the micrometer barrel.

Clearance holes in the base are provided for mounting quality manufacturing Co. Optical Breadboard or a variety of other quality maanufacturing Co. Transalation and rotational stage . The top of the stage is provided with a central M16 tapped mounting hole for quality manufacturing Co. Heavy Duty posts and an array of M 6 tapped holes on 25 mm centre for mounting other machinecal components.
