Scale translates into higher head pressure, hence in increase in power requirement and cost. 2. Excessive heating of equipments due to reduced cooling water circulation makes them work at much below their optimum efficiency level causing loss of productivity. 3. Microbial growth on metal surfaces contribute to the corrosion through the formation of acid metabolic products. 4. Due to corrosion life of metal surfaces found to be reduced by over 30 percent 5.
