Among them AIR KNIFE is one such tool which has made difference in many fields and constantly finding new applications.AIR KNIFE SYSTEM is a non contact method of removing unwanted surface liquid, moisture, dirt, coatings, contamination, debris, heat, static charge etc during manufacturing process of predominantly conveyed (moving) articles or parts.
AIR KNIFE SYSTEM powered by low pressure air from blower devices a continuous Laminar Sheet / Stream/Curtain of precisely controlled High Velocity Air. This Sheet/Stream/Curtain of high velocity air push the liquid from the surface of the article/product and residual moisture is shattered from the article/product.This mist is carried away by continuous stream of air. This Sheet/Stream/Curtain of High Velocity Air also blows away debris, clean surfaces, dissipates heat, spreads / dries coatings, takes away static charges, protects surface etc
Low pressure blower assisted AIR KNIFE SYSTEM has number of advantages over compressed air type. This comparison is shown separately. One of the prime applications areas of AIR KNIFE is Drying such as in food and vegetable packaging, beverage bottle/cans drying, parts/paper/sheet/glass drying etc. Drying of product surfaces is done with high velocity air sheet/stream/curtain pushing the liquid from the surface and residual moisture shattered by stream of air.
In most cases DRYING is done with crudely fabricated pipe with holes, out of which compressed air is allowed to come out to dry. This is one of most ineffective and costly and noisy method.
Other more frequently used method is Thermal Drying. Again this is high energy consuming method and has number of disadvantages. Like high temperature drying heats the parts and raises surrounding temperature. Hence additional cost is incurred to cool parts and surroundings. Further this will slow down the system.

Parts Drying Cleaning Cooling Air Knife Systems |
Compressed airs drying-cleaning- cooling systems are highly inefficient as compared to a RAICO blower based air knife system. A RAICO 10Hp blower system will generally do the work of 40+ Hp of compressed air in the same application. RAICO is changing the way debris removal/static controls are being handled. With ever increasing production speeds, greater part complexities and more stringent contamination controls, the low velocity fans and high pressure compressed air devices are no longer the favored air supply for these applications. Customers are demanding more effectiveness and lower operating costs. RAICO high velocity air knives with blowers, with or without properly sized air ionizing bars, are answering the call. Low velocity AIR KNIFE SYSTEMS designs are not effective for an increasing number of today’s higher product speeds and complex part geometries, that manufacturers must blow debris from, while creating a clean surface. With RAICO’s 10,000 to 40,000 FPM air knife velocities, it can be as gentle or aggressive, at debris removal, as the application requires. Heated air knife air is yet another feature that can be incorporated into your system. RAICO blower always produces a natural heat of compression and may not require any supplemental heating. Alternatively, heat source between blower and air knife, will supply hot air, enhancing efficiency, as required by the application. An air knife system can accelerate radiant parts cooling (air quench), in situations where a liquid quench in not acceptable, and low velocity fans are not meeting the need. As high temperature products exit ovens, or other processes where heat is introduced, rapid air cooling of the parts can help stabilize the structure, reduce conveyor lengths and facilitate operator handling or other subsequent process. Sheet Drying Cleaning Cooling Air Knife Systems |
RAICO is providing the metal finishing industry with the most effective and efficient blow off and drying solutions. As compressed air and heater systems have been proven much less cost effective methods for today’s higher production rates and standards. Eliminating squeegee rolls & scrapper blades are the most common application for our Air Knife Systems. You will, no longer have the maintenance costs associated with cleaning, adjusting and/or replacing the rollers and scrapers. A significant benefit is that a RAICO Air Knife System delivers clean, dry, oil/dirt free air at higher than ambient temperatures to further improve the product and accelerate the drying process as well. Thermal drying heats up the products, which needs to be cooled before handling, making conveyor lines longer, and production speeds slower. Blower assisted Air Knife systems takes away this disadvantage allowing shorter conveyor lengths and higher production speeds, which will benefit in terms of time and energy savings and higher efficiencies.

With food processors and packagers demanding that their production lines run faster, occupy less space, be cleaner, have more flexibility and operate more efficiently than ever before, RAICO Air Knife Systems take a huge burden off the customer’s shoulders. On any conveyor line where surface water /moisture needs to be completely removed, coatings require precise thickness control, solids or debris must be displaced or static eliminated, Raico has set the standards for all. Stainless Steel 316 materials and HEPA filters are also routine options to handle the most stringent requirements HEPA filters from RAICO ensure that we clean the surface of the part with air that won’t compromise the customer’s cleanliness specification. Most fan driven air knives and ionizing bars that have HEPA filters are on the inlet of the fan. The result is that a rotating piece of machinery (the fan) is located after the HEPA and will compromise the entire clean air circuit air circuit at some point in time. RAICO manufacture a production model, which is in-line and high volume HEPA filter system mounted in the piping between the blower and the air knife/ionizing bar. Compressed air systems air systems do have in-line HEPA filters, but the small size and high pressure drops make them maintenance intensive and increase the running cost of the compressed air that much further.

Cables-Wires after extrusion, normally passes through water bath tank to cool. These Cables-Wires coming out of water bath, requires a very effective removal / drying of surface water.
