Rajapur Shipyards, located 380 km south of Mumbai and 180 km north of Goa, is spread over 750 acres in Ratnagiri district of the Konkan region on the west coast of India. The 2 km water front affords to the yard a unique opportunity to launch ships and offshore rigs from 400 x 140 m facility making it the largest launching facility in this part of the world. The Project cost is pegged at Rs. 2200 Crores (500 M USD), which will be spread in phases. |

Infrastructure Rajapur Shipyards (RSPL) will have state of the art facilities of a modern ship building yard. The facility will be spread over 750 acres of land adjacent to the sea. The unique feature of the yard will be the launching facility, considering that land is 32 m above sea level. The Yard will also have ship and oil rig repair and retrofitting facilities. The fabrication and block making facility will be spread over 350 acres of land away from the assembly site. The ships will be entirely outfitted before their launching. The design of the building and workshops would be energy efficient and will reduce artificial lighting requirement. It will have building integrated Photovoltaic cells ported on the roof to cater to energy requirements for lighting. Rajapur Shipyard's township will be located nearby. It will have a school and a hospital for the employees. The complete establishment is planned on a "Green concept". No hydrocarbon fuelled vehicles will operate within the yard and township. Cycles, Pedi cabs and electric vehicles will be the mode of transport. With star rated hotels, yoga, ayurvedic, naturopathy and meditation centers, the Konkan country side will be opened to the outside world retaining the pristine nature.
