The system comprises of a solar PV module, charge controller,battery and lightning system. Remote wind power hybrid system often incorporate additional generating sources such as diesel generators and solar arrays. these 'Hybrid' systems provide improved reliability of the power supply.when the power from the wind turbine is not sufficient to operate the load,the alternator energy source comes on-line.The alternator source is used far less frequently in a hybrid system than if the wind system were not present.
How it works:-
Hybrid system most commonly take the form of photovoltaic system combined with wind turbines and/or generators running on diesel or biofuels.During the day,power generated by the PV array is stored in the battery bank through an energy manager,which controls the complete system.This device msximises the charging current and prevents excessive discharging/overcharging of the battery bank.The SunTechnics wing generator starts generating power when wind reaches the cut-in speed of 3 m/s. output from the wing turbine is also stored in the battery bank and controlled by the energy manager.During very windy periods eventual excess energy is dissipated through a dump load.This dump load can be exploited for useful purpose, for instance to heat a room or a water tank.the wind turbine is self regulated with a patented 'pitch control' mechanism.This unique feature guarantees a stable energy output especially during strong winds.It also ensures storm protection and makes the construction of the turbine much lighter than conventional small wind turbines.The energy stored in the battery is drawn by the electrical loads through the inverter, which converts DC power into AC power. The inverter has in-built protection against short-circuit, overheating,low battery voltage and overload.The battery bank is designed to feed the loads up to certain numbers of days with no sun or wind,depending upon the system requirement.
