Color Masterbatches

What is Masterbatch :

These are predispersed Color / Additive concentrates available in different thermoplastics base and in different concentration of Colourants / Additives as per the requirements and applications. While manufacture of color masterbatches, concentration & selection of Colourants, Additives and Carrier Resins is very critical. It needs careful study of its own properties, processing conditions, end use requirements and matrix material. So Masterbatches are manufactured according to customers applications and end use requirements of the plastics. These selections are summarized as follow :

1) Selection of Colourants :

Colourants can be classified as organic and inorganic. Pigments vary considerably in their properties. Suitability of pigment in a particular polymeric material would depend upon its own properties vis-a-vis.

2) Selection of Additive / Filler :

The most common additive / fillers are Talc, Calcium Carbonate, Mica CMS, Stabillizers, Antistatic Agents, Slip Agents, Anti-slip Agents, Anti-blocking Agents, Foaming Agents, Flame-retardants, UV Stabilizers and so on.

3) Selection of Carrier Resins :

Suitability of base polymeric material depends upon the matrix like PVC, Polyolefines, Styrene Polymers, Acrylic, Polyester, Polyurethane, Nylon, Poly Carbonate, Polyacetal, Polysulfone, Elastomers, Glass / Mineral / Additive filled resin and so on.

4) Forms Available :

Color Masterbatches can be provided in particle size ranging from fine powder to the normal 1/8 inch pellet.

Filler Masterbatches

RIVIERA introduces Mineral filled Antifab Masterbatches having high loading of Ultrafine Mineral Fillers in a Polyolefin base Resin. Minerals and base resins are carefully selected specially for PP / HDPE Woven Fabrics & Sacks application. However, it can be used in other applications also like Moulding, Monofilaments, Film Extrusion, Lamination etc. All filler masterbatches have been formulated for ease of incorporation to any Polyolefin resin and acceptability for food contact applications. It is supplied in Pellet form (under water cut).

By using these filler materbatches you will get following technological advantages / benefits :

  • The Primary objective is cost reduction. It reduces cost. Property improvement is considered as a bonus.
  • It reduces the fibrillation and splitting tendency of Types under mechanical stress.
  • It reduces slipperiness of the Tape surface which helps in better winding of the tapes and better stacking of Woven bags.
  • It enhances dart drop and tear resistance.
  • It improves printability and barrier properties.
  • It increases dimensional stability and reduces width and Denier variations.
  • It improves the Rigidity / Impact Strength.

  3. PRM White (TR)

Caco3 / Talc used in above masterbatches are of Ultrafine mesh size and dispersed homogeneously in the base resin. We also welcomes your request for Masterbatch / Compound to satisfy your special needs for other than above products if any.

Filler Masterbatches


Thermoplastic Compounds

A more rational, economical and practical approach is to modify/reinforce the existing plastic to achieve specific high performance properties. The methods for creating a plastic with balanced properties at acceptable costs are :

  • Polymer Blending and alloying of existing plastics.
  • Addition of Lubricants, Plasticizers, Stabilizers, Fillers, Reinforcing and Modifying Agents etc.

The technique of compounding polymers with other polymers, chemical additives, inorganic fillers and reinforcing fibers has given an effective tool to tailor-make materials for achieving specific balance combinations of physical properties, processing characteristics and cost. Hence, recently the major thrust of the material development efforts has been in the area of thermoplastic compounding with additives. Some of the key areas of modified / reinforced thermoplastic compounding are :

1) Chemical Additives :

U.V. Stabilizers, Heat Stabilizers, Antioxidants, Flame Retardants, Antistatics, Slip agents, Antislip Agents, Antifogging Agents, Antiblocking Agents, Foaming Agents, Processing Aids etc. Apart from this, many other Chemical additives are used like cling agents, metal de-activators, optical brightners, plasticizers, coupling agents, cross-linking agents, impact modifiers, lubricants, emulsifiers and so on.

2) Mineral Fillers / Extenders :

The traditional use of fillers and extenders has been for reducing the amount of expensive resins needed to make a functional part. Now it is also used for physical property modification and improvement.

3) Reinforcing Fibres :

Like mineral fillers, Fibres are also used for improvement and reinforcement of physical properties of thermoplastics. Most commonly used are :

  • Aramid
  • Carbon
  • Glass
  • Asbestos
  • Wallostonite
  • Hybrids of the above fibres
  • Carbon graphite filament

Boron filament Glass fibre is the only reinforcement agent readily available in India.

High Density Polyethylene

Avail from us, our range of GAIL Products : G-Lex / G-Lene. These products are high density polyethylene that are produced by GAIL. Based on low pressure polymerization process MITSUI, Japan, these products are available in a number of grade options. These grades, with molecular weight range between 20,000 to 200,000 are ideal for various applications like :

  • HM-blow moulding
  • HM-films and pipes
