Hand painted Bed Linens These bed spreads are hand painted and includes Mithila painting done on cotton fabric. Mithila painting is a traditional art form named after its place of origin, Madhubani, a village in Bihar, an eastern province of India. The painting was traditionally done on freshly plastered mud wall of huts, but now it is also done on cloth, hand made papers and canvas. This painting is mainly done by village women having no formal or academic training and is passed down from one generation to other as a tradition of style and artisan ship. Tikuli Crafts Wall Hangings / Coasters & Table Mats Tikuli is a rare and marvelous piece of hand painting, more than 300 years old and has its origin in Patna, an ancient town of eastern India. Tikuli is derived form the word Tikli or Bindi- the dot like embellishment with glass base and gold foil leaves in variety of designs adoring the forehead of most women in India. This painting is done on the glazed surface of hardboard plates. The process of making these paintings is a very tedious and time consuming. From cutting the hardboard in different sizes to painting sharp black lines in one stroke for smoothness and fineness, the process involves 15 stages. Fine brushes and enamel paints are used to make these paintings. These paintings are available in different sizes and shapes and are heat proof and water proof and are used for interior decorations like wall hangings and utility items like table mats and coasters.
