CNSL Based Resin mainly consists of two naturally produced Phenolic Compounds i.e. Anacardic Acid and Cardol. Both of them are non-drying and cannot be dried up unless by chemical reaction. CNSL Resin is a transparent viscous resin with golden color film. It is highly suitable for the surface coating application, where outstanding film properties and very high resistance to water and chemicals are required. Therefore, CNSL Resin is used commonly as a paint raw material due to its high water and chemical resistant property.
Compatibility - CNSL resin is compatible with all drying oil, alkyd, epoxy, ester gum, phenolic and malic acids in all proportions and only to a limited extent with chlorinated resins, specially chlorinated rubber. They are not compatible with urea resin.
Applications of CNSL Based Resins:
Brake Lining:
- CNSL Formaldehyde (NOVOLAC) resins are used for brake liner binding preparation
Paint and coatings:
- Dark color enamels application
- Excellent resistance to water, acid, alkali
Primers for wood and metal:
- Red oxide metal primer, Zinc chromate primer, other primers
- Provides Resistance against water, acid, alkali and other chemicals
Lacquer:
- Provides toughness and elasticity to the lacquer film
- Superior to those of ordinary oil paints in respect to resistance to oils, grease moisture and chemicals
Insulation Varnishes:
- To achieve excellent flexibility and resistance to other chemicals
- High gloss and adhesion properties
Laminating industry Resins:
- Improves age hardening and better bonding to the substrate
Foundry core binders:
- Improves collapsibility of the core and enhances bench life and anti-damp behavior in comparison to conventional core binders
Friction resistant material:
- An excellent heat resistant material and as a partial substitute for phenolic resin to reduce cost
Rubber:
- Enhances the resistance of the product to aging, chemical attack and the action of solvents and acids
Polymer based cements:
- For good adhesion and resistance to moisture, acids and alkalis
Adhesives:
- Price advantage over conventional phenolic adhesives admirable properties to meet the growing demand for quality and durability in bonding plywood
