In post tension slabs, cables are spread in both directions through the concrete and are covered in order to allow tension be put on the cables once the slab is poured and has cured to a certain point. Tensioning prevents the slab from cracking and it becomes a large slab held together as a single unit. The use of post tensioning slabs helps in reducing the overall building height that in turn lowers the cost for foundation, frame and cladding components.
