Researchers at the Center for Strategic and International Studies predict that by 2025 water will be the most grave resource problem in the global economy.
First, there is the issue of polluted water. This is already the biggest cause of sickness and death in the world. Secondly, is the engineering problem of efficiently getting the water to where it needs to be to quench the thirst of the world's growing population.
The 2nd UN World Water Development Report states that a colossal 30 to 40 percent or more of water goes unaccounted for. Most of this unaccounted for water is lost through water leakages in pipes, out of which 60% of the water losses take place from the house service connections. The rest is lost through open canals and illegal connections.
