What is Filter Presses
Filter Presses are liquid/solid separation devices that are designed to utilize feed pressure and also in some cases, squeeze pressure so as to reduce liquid content in process/waste slurries. These also work towards reducing solid content in product (clarification).
Filter presses comprise of a series of horizontally arranged vertical filter elements, where each one id dressed with synthetic woven material, paper or felt medium. Further, the filter presses also consist of skeleton to support filter plates and closure mechanism so as to provide necessary force on sealing faces of plates to counteract applied force of filtration (squeezing).

Filtration Process:
A filter cake builds in the chamber
Liquid flows through particulate bed, through filter medium, across drainage surface of filter plate
It is collected from filter through drainage outlets
When filtration cycle is completed, closing force is released & filter plates are separated
This permits filter cake to be discharged from chambers
