About UsSadhna a Women's Handicraft Enterprise was started an income generation program of Seva Mandir (A national NGO situated in Udaipur, Rajasthan) in 1988. It was started with an aim to provide an alternative means of livelihood to the women of rural, tribal and urban slum areas in Southern Rajasthan. Today Sadhna family consists of more than 650 women artisans spread over in 13 locations of Udaipur & Rajsamand districts of Southern Rajasthan. The artisan members are owner members of Sadhna and ownership status lies in their hands only. Their full participation in the decision making process gives a unique identity to the organization.
Sadhna is involved in producing handmade home textiles, soft furnishings, garments and accessories with some ranges of thread & beads jewelries. The garments and furnishings are crafted in appliqu, patchwork, and beautiful running stitches. Sadhnas products are certified by the Craftmark India, for the authentication of being a producer of handcrafted products. Sadhna is a member of Fair Trade India & USA, and follows all the norms of Fair Trade. WFTO membership status is also under process. Sadhna has received Seal of Excellence awarded by UNESO on three of its products for finest quality work. Sadhna sale its product through four main channels, i.e. through two showrooms situated in Udaipur, through participating in more than 20 handicraft exhibitions all over India and working on domestic & international orders. The entire surplus earned at the end goes to the artisan members.
Along with this, artisan members are also introduced & associated with many social security schemes to ensure the better life today with safe and secure future for themselves and their family members. Sadhna is continuously working to achieve the aforesaid organizations goal. All the artisan members have the bank account through which they get their payment along with their half yearly incentive; everybody is introduced to the various schemes e.g. provident fund, pension, health insurance, children education scholarship etc. |
