Duplex 2205 Steel Bar![]() Duplex 2205® Stainless Steel Bar UNS S31803/UNS S32205 UNS S31803 and UNS S32205 are commonly referred to as Duplex 2205® material, whose “Duplex” name is derived from the mixed microstructure which contains about equal portions of ferrite and austenite. Developed more than 70 years ago in Sweden precisely for the sulfite paper industry where the Duplex’s were used to combat corrosion problems caused by chloride-bearing cooling waters and other aggressive chemical products. Since then there have been advancements in the composition such as the deliberate addition of nitrogen as an alloying agent, which afterwards quickly made Duplex the “workhorse” of stainless steels. Generally, UNS S31803 has been solely designated to the Duplex 2205® grade. More recently, it has been available complying with the higher corrosion resistant composition UNS S32205. The only difference in the UNS numbers is that UNS S32205 contains a higher nitrogen content which guarantees better corrosion resistance. Composed of between 21% to 23% chromium, 4.5% to 6.5% nickel, 5% to 3.5% molybdenum, 2% manganese, and 1% silicon, with the balance being iron. Also found in Duplex Stainless Steel are trace amounts of carbon, phosphorus, sulfur and nitrogen. Benefits of Duplex include: good weldability and workability, high resistance to corrosion fatigue, stress corrosion cracking (especially chloride stress corrosion cracking), erosion, and high energy absorption. Other advantages of Duplex are higher heat conductivity and low thermal expansion compared to austenitic stainless steels, high strength, good resistance to sulfide stress corrosion, and high resistance to pitting and crevice to corrosion. Duplex 2205® accounts for over 80% of the total usage of Duplex stainless steels throughout the world because of its superior workability as well as corrosion resistance. Industries that use Duplex include:

Stainless Steel Rod![]() One of the preferred option for metal alloys chosen by almost all industries is 440C bars. These products are capable to sustain the hardness, toughness, and strength and resistance power after heat treatment given for a long time. Due to the presence of carbon content at a greater extent in these products, they exhibit excellent mechanical characteristics and are well suited for the applications as ball bearings and valve parts.
The main and single difference between 440A & 440B is in the amount of carbon content (0.60 - 0.75% and 0.75 - 0.95% respectively), the latter have lower attainable hardness but higher corrosion resistance. Although all three versions of this grade are standard grades, in practice 440C is more available than the A or B variants.

Square bars are ideal for pump shafts, scaffolding, cold drawing and fastener applications. : Stainless Steel Square / Flat Bars![]() 304 is the most common 18/8 austenitic stainless steel, very widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, breweries and chemical industries. 304 stainless is very popular in the building and domestic appliance sectors. The 304L grade has a reduced carbon content. The lower carbon content will help improve corrosion resistance after welding, and minimise carbide precipitation during the welding operation. As a stainless steel 304 has very good welding characteristics. Though continuous use of 304 stainless as high temperature is not recommended occasional service of 304 stainless up to 870ºC will give good oxidation resistance.
304L grade limits carbon to 0.03% and increased nickel to 12% Steel Bar![]() 440c / 1.4125 / 4125 Stainless Steel. Super Duplex UNS 32760 Round Bar![]() UNS-S32760 NS S32760, F55, 1.4501 Super Duplex has enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance compared with the ordinary austerity or duplex types. This is due to the further additions of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen to these grades. UNS S32760, F55, 1.4501 combines high strength and good ductility with outstanding corrosion resistance. With UNS S32760, F55, 1.4501 having these attribute it is used in a wide range of marine, oil and gas environments. UNS S32760, F55, 1.4501 is the most common super duplex grade.
Alloy 20 Round BarAlloy 20 Stainless Steel Bar UNS N08020 UNS N08020, also known as Alloy 20 is one of the “super” stainless steels developed for maximum resistance to acid attack, because of this, there are various uses for it in both the stainless and nickel industries. Alloy 20 seems to fall in-between both the stainless and nickel categories, as it does contain characteristics of both; however, the unified numbering system (UNS) does ultimately recognize it as a nickel based alloy, hence the UNS N08020 number. Alloy 20 is an austenitic nickel-iron-chromium based alloy with additions of copper and molybdenum. Its nickel content aids in its chloride ion stress and corrosion resistance. The addition of copper and molybdenum provides resistance to hostile environments, pitting and crevice corrosion. Chromium adds to its resistance of oxidizing environments, such as nitric acid, and columbium (or niobium) reduces the effects of carbide precipitation. Most welding methods can be used when working with Alloy 20, except for oxyacetylene welding. It can also be hot formed using the same forces required to hot work austenitic stainless steels. In terms of machineability, outstanding finishes are possible using the same set-up and process speeds used for austenitic stainless steels, such as Stainless Steels 316 or 317. Industries that use Alloy 20 include:

Super Austenitic Stainless Steel Bar254 SMO® Super Austenitic Stainless Steel Bar UNS S31254 254 SMO® stainless steel bar, also known as UNS S31254, was originally developed for use in seawater and other aggressive chloride-bearing environments. This grade is considered a very high end austenitic stainless steel; mainly comprised of between 19.5% and 20.5% chromium, 17.5% to 18.5% nickel, 6% to 6.5% molybdenum and .18% to .22% nitrogen. These specific levels of Cr, Ni, Mo, and N in this “super austenitic” chemical makeup allow 31254 to combine impact toughness resistance to corrosion cracking, with pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. The result is strength of nearly twice that of 300 series stainless steels. UNS S31254 is often referred to as a “6% Moly” grade due to the molybdenum content; the 6% Moly family has the ability to withstand high temperatures and maintain strength under volatile conditions. This grade has surpassed its original intent and overlapped into many industries proving useful owing to its high level of molybdenum amount other elements, which allows 31254 to be used successfully in various applications such as Flue gas desulfurization and Chemical environments. Industries that use 31254 include:
