Focus Market Schemes
The Focus Market Scheme covers export to all countries as mentioned in the Handbook of Procedures (Vol. 1) will qualify for export benefits except some that are not covered as mentioned in this book. Specifically, exports to all mentioned countries will carry a duty credit scrip equivalent to 2.5% of the FOB value of exports for each licensing year starting from the 1st of April 2006. The scrips and any products imported against it are freely transferable. The main aim of the Focus Market Scheme is to enhance our export competitiveness through some concessions in order to offset greater problems like the higher freight cost to be paid for export. This scheme also allows companies to select countries to open up export markets for their products.
Duty Free Import Authorizations
We offer a wide range of services under the DFIA scheme with effect from 1-5-2006. This authorization can be issued either to a manufacturer exporter or a merchant exporter tied to the supporting manufacturer. The permission for this category is given for inputs and export items under SION (Standard Input and Output Norms). It limits permission for import to only those amounts of quantities of items required for manufacture which are mentioned under SION. Basically DFIA covers duty free import of inputs which are used in the manufacture of export product (after allowing for wastage. It also allows duty free import of extra raw materials like fuel, catalyst and energy needed for manufacture of export items.
Duty Exemption Schemes
We offer different kinds of Duty Exemption Schemes to enable duty free import of items needed to manufacture and sell export products. There is also a scheme called Duty Remission scheme that allows post export remission of duty for replenishment of inputs used in export production. These duty exemption schemes also allow goods which were exported under Advance Authorization / DFRC / DEPB to be re-imported in essentially the same form, but this is subject to certain conditions imposed by the Department of Revenue. These conditions may also keep changing depending on directions issued by the Department of Revenue.
Star Export House
There are various kinds of businesses that qualify under the star export house scheme for concessions under the export business category similar in nature to the focus market scheme. Some of these businesses are - Export Oriented Units (EOUs), units located in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Electronic Hardware Technology Parks (EHTPs), Software Technology Parks (STPs), Biotechnology Parks (BTPs) and Agri Export Zones (AEZs), which are all eligible under this scheme for special treatment under the export category of industries.
