CODE OPERATED SWITCH, COS 801 is an Intelligent Sharing Switch.
COS finds application where Non Addressable Serial devices have to be commonly connected to a Single PC. COS801 is basically a Multiplexer. It has one ( 1 ) Common port and Eight ( 8 ) I/O Port . The Common port is used to select 1 of the 8 Ports. Selection is done through Software codes. SAN would supply 8 Codes, one for each Input, which need to be integrated in your software. These Codes are Programmable. Normally PC with a Data Acquisition Software is connected to Common port and sends these Codes to the COS 801, to select the desired Input port. When a particular Code is sent from the Common Port, a I/O port is selected, and a full duplex bi-directional communication can take place between the Common port and that selected port.

San’s Protocol Converter-Gateway consists of this CPU card. STQ2179 is the SAN Telequip make CPU card that is generally used in the protocol converter -Gateway GW hardware. This card supports three serial communication ports viz. COM1, COM2 and COM3, 32k SRAM, 8K of serial EEPROM, Watchdog timer and 32k memory mapped for general purpose Input-Output ports. The enclosure-housing of the Protocol Converter-Gateway can be customised to your needs.

SMARTSWITCH SM 202 is a Manual Serial Port Selector Switch. It has 2 Serial Input
ports and 2 Serial Output port. Selection of Input port is made by the Push Button switch
on the front panel. The Input Serial Ports are named Serial A, Serial B are located on
the back side of the enclosure. The Output Ports named Serial X & Serial Y are located
in the front of the enclosure.

Serial Interface Sharing Devices.
1. Model SAM 201-401 : Auto Manual Sharer.

To share 1 Serial Common Device with 2-4 SAM 201 -401 Serial Input devices e.g. RTU’s, Controllers, PC's etc. In Auto mode, switching takes place on First come First serve basis. During Power On, Data appearing at any of the Input Port, is diverted to the Output. Time Out is selectable from 15 Sec. to 1Min. SAM will wait upto the Time Out period, looking for data, before it moves to any other Input port whose data is to be transferred to the output. Alternatively, a Query received at the Common Port can be broadcasted to all the 4 Input Ports. Whichever Port responds to the query, the SAM locks to that port for communication. Once the communication is through, SAM waits for the Time Out period, till a new query has to be broadcasted or any other Input port may want to respond. Manual operation of the Sharer is through Membrane Keys to manually select higher priority jobs.
