Substation gantries are required for stringing of overhead bus conductors either from dead end tower of transmission lines or to form a bus bar inside a substation. One set of gantry consists of two gantry towers one beam. Sometimes a peak is provided on top of the gantry tower for stringing of the lightning protection shield wire. The tower and beam is designed in STAAD software for the project specific load data. The design output is then used to select various member sizes and preparation of fabrication drawing in a cad software.

Overhead cable bridges are used in many industries for inter-plant routing of power, control and instrument cables. We have previous experience of designing steel structures for these cable bridge structures /trestles. The structural analysis is done by STAAD software and the design calculation can be done either by STAAD or MS Excel. We also do fabrication drawing along with BOM and weight of each individual structural member for the trestle, girder, cable rack supporting structures, walkway and roof sheeting arrangement for the cable bridge.

Design and Drawings for Transmission

We provide the Structural Engineering for Transmission Line Towers upto 220kV based on the standard tower GA drawings available with the Transmission Companies. The design is done based on the route layout, tower locations, contour plan and elevation, soil bearing capacity, type of towers and tower loading data. After a structural modeling and analysis through STAAD software, we can deliver a well coordinated fabrication drawing of the tower with BOM and weight of each individual member.

In outdoor switch yards, equipment are mounted on supporting steel structures. The structures can be lattice type or made of tubular pipe sections. We have long experience of designing these type of structures for substations upto 400kV. The design is done either by STAAD software or by MS Excel as per Customers requirement. With the help of the design output, we can deliver a fabrication drawing for the structure including BOM and weight of each individual member of the structure. The equipment support structures can be of following types :

  • Structure for Lightning arrester.
  • Structure for Instrument Transformers.
  • Structure for Disconnecting switches.
  • Structure for Bus post insulators.
  • Structure for Circuit breakers.

Pole Arrangements for Overhead Distribution Lines

Overhead distribution lines upto 33kV are generally supported on pole structures made of either rail poles or steel tubular poles or PCC poles as per REC standard guidelines. We have delivered detailed designs and fabrication drawings for pole arrangements for overhead distribution lines of 6.6kV, 11kV and 33kV voltage levels for misc. industrial and power plant projects. These designs include sag and tension calculation, checking of suitability of pole type, steel structural design of bracings and supports. Design and drawings can be supplied for following type of pole arrangements :
