Ball Mill Ball mill consists of cylindrical shell rotating on a horizontal axes, mounted on a sturdy mild steel structure. Both the end plates of the ball mill are strongly designed to with stand the rotational load of the mill with grinding media and the material to be processed. Openings are provided through main hole, from where the material to be processed is loaded and discharged. The ball mill is driven by a motor coupled to the reduction gear box with chain, sprocket and belt. Satjyot ball mills are fabricated from mild steel, having SS linning, rubber lining or ceramic lining etc as required.
In a Ball mill, most of the size reduction is done by impact, as the balls drop from near the top of the shell. When the mill is rotated, the balls are picked up by the mill wall and carried nearly to the top, where they break contact with the wall and fall to the bottom, to be picked up again. Centrifugal force keeps the balls in contact with the wall and with one another during the upward movement.
While in contact with the wall, the balls do some grinding by slipping and rolling over one another, but most of the grinding occurs at the zone of impact, where the free-falling balls strike the bottom of the mill.
Note:- working capacity to be calculated at 50% of container capacity.
