Aerobic Digester![]() Desc. : The present set-up consists of a reactor vessel. Liquid and air are fed to the reactor by means of a Peristaltic Feed Pump and a small capacity Compressor, respectively. Flow rate of air can be regulated and controlled with the help of Rotameter. Liquid level can be maintained in the reactor using overflow device connected to the water annular chamber of the vessel. Water is drawn from feed tank to overhead tank with feed pump coupled to DC Motor. A suitable spider-arm dispenser is provided in the bottom of the reactor vessel to distribute the air thoroughly for sufficient bubbling and stirring for reaction. The cylindrical wall of reactor is made from porous material to retain the suspended particles. It can be easily removed for cleaning purpose. Clear water passes through outer annular exit chamber. A heater is provided in the reactor vessel to heat the liquid and its temperature is maintained with provided PID Controller. The reactor lid contains a gas exit pot for sampling the gas for analysis. A Dissolved Oxygen Meter and pH probe accompanies the apparatus, which allows to conduct the experiment with ease. Anaerobic Digester![]() The present set-up consists of 2 Nos. upward flow packed bed reactors. The set-up is designed so that the reactors can be operated either parallel or in series. A buffer tank is provided in between the reactors to permit the discharge of excess flow from the first reactor when the second rector is operated in series but at a low flow rate. Individual Peristaltic pumps are provided for each packed bed reactor to set and control the flow rate of liquid. Two heater surrounds the reactor to heat the liquid passing through the reactor and temperature of the liquid in reactor can be controlled by means of Digital Temperature Controllers provided individually for each reactor. Flocculation Unit![]() The present set-up is designed to conduct the coagulation and flocculation test in the laboratory. These test are called as “Jar Test” which are routinely performed by the water treatment operators in the industry. This test indicates the optimum chemical dosages for removal of turbidity and colour present in water. It also indicates such auxiliary fact regarding pH adjustments and necessity for the supplemental use of activated carbon. |
