Average Annual Production: 85 million MT, Self Consumption: 40% of 85 million MT, Traded: 60% of 85 million MT, Avearge GOI Procurement: 22 million MT, Exports: 2.2 million MT, Indian Rice Trade: 26.8 million MT.

Achievements

In major parts of India, the basmati rice is popularly known as CHAWAL. Basmati Rice is very well distinguised from other rice varieties due to its sweet and appetizing fragrance. Basmati rice production is expected to grow up, where as major rice production of rice in India comes from Punjab, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharastra etc. It is also expected that Rice Export from India will also increase in near future with the increase in rice production.
