Management

Sanjaya Singhal (Managing Director) : With over 20 years of experience in the field of energy metering and utility revenue protection, Sanjaya Singhal specialises in business strategy and future trends in metering. He is a member of Power Committee of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

B S Babel Joint Managing Director : B S Babel has been a part of Secure Meters since its inception. He leads the group marketing function. He has been an inspiration for many youngsters and even the older employees of the Entity group.

Hemant Gole Senior Group Vice President : Hemant Gole has been at Secure Meters for 7 years. In this time he has worked together with the existing operations team to make it one of the most effective and efficient in the industry. He heads service division of the Entity Group.

Hemender Pandwal Group Vice President Finance : Hemender Pandwal has been with the group since 1999. Today he heads the finance division. He is a key player in all the mergers and acquisitions made by Entity Group.

Rajesh Kohli Marketing Director : For the last 8 years, Rajesh Kohli has been working as a part of the Marketing Team. He has a terrific instinct for the business and has made a mark on all the customers he deals with.

Kamlesh Bhatt Vice President , Operations : Kamlesh Bhatt joined Secure Meters in 1994. He played a key role in setting up the 3 production facilities in Solan. He now looks after the Udaipur production facility as well.

Nandita Singhal : Nandita has given a strategic direction to the SECURE brand. She has helped us in realising our values and runs our corporate social responsibility activities. She continues to infuse the spirit of collaboration to help Secure achieve its business objectives.

Having grown at a fast pace over the last decade , alongside the success story of Indian economy it is prudent that we keep pace with the changing energy dynamics and the vast developments in the metering arena world over. Manufacturing Facilities

Secure Meters Limited, an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified company has four world class manufacturing facilities. One of these is located in Udaipur, Rajasthan and three in District Solan in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The manufacturing vision is based on three key principles:

Production capacity must lead market demand.
Manufacturing flexibility must ensure service to all customers whether their requirement is for one product or one million products.
Manufacture against order.

The key attribute is to follow an integrated manufacturing approach based on the Surface Mount Technology to manufacture top of the line compact energy meters. Circuit Card Assemblies, the soul of the metering products are made using the state of art “Automatic Pick and Place” and “Automatic Optical Inspection” machines, followed by Product Integration, Testing & Calibration and Packing. The manufacturing capability includes production of wide variety of products for varying customer requirements.
Two sophisticated NABL accredited metrology laboratories, one each at Udaipur and Solan calibrate, certify and maintain complete traceability of all test and measuring equipments being used in manufacturing facilities. This ensures that all metering products are fully compliant to national and international standards.

Electronic Energy Meters produced for Indian markets are BIS certified. Similarly meters produced for overseas markets are compliant to the regulatory requirements of the overseas markets, e.g. Ofgem for the UK. Proven robust manufacturing processes, continuous improvements using structured quality initiatives, well developed global supply chain for procurement of parts and home grown technological capability to design, develop and deploy complete test and certification facilities on the shop floor ensure product quality and reliability.

Project Management

Secure is able to offer large scale project management; it delivers a range of services to compliment its metering products and offers turnkey solutions. A wide range of metering products together with integrated service solutions is what has earned Secure Meters a reputation as a total metering solutions provider.

The services are tailored to suit the needs of the utility, from metering the grid to billing the end user. In summary, these services are geared to supporting the utilities all along their chain of operation.

Our Commitment

The organisational philosophy is “ robust designs and simple processes” with a theme of “there is always a better way” in everything we do. This is the mantra of our MD and is deeply rooted in the minds of every Secure employee.

In the mid 90's our emphasis was on systems aligned to ISO 9001, 1994 revision of the Quality Standards. Subsequently, we looked at processes which run across the organisation, end to end, and through Business Process Re-engineering mapping tools, we were able to list ‘Key Business Processes’ to be documented and monitored through our Balance Score Card at various levels and units of the entire organisation. This facilitated the organisation to quickly adopt the new requirements of ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management Systems in the early part of 2001.

Quality

In our endeavour to constantly change and evolve as an organisation, to be more responsive to changes in our business environment and to deliver value to our customers through technologically advanced solutions, we adopted ‘10x’ change. In other words, any improvement that we aim to do, must be 10 times better and more effective than step-by-step improvements.

This change in ‘mindset’ was adopted through Six Sigma methodology amongst cross-functional management teams and Quality Circles amongst operational personnel at all levels. As Dr Deming proposed in his lectures on ‘Mindset Change’ to American businessmen in the 1950s and 60s, after Japan’s transformation - that in order to bring about organisational transformations within America one needs to seek ‘Profound Knowledge’ which resides outside the organisation. We, at Secure Meters have had fulfilling partnerships that have enabled us to focus on different aspects of reliability with many of the top institutes in India over the years.

Subsequently, the Operations team at Secure and Datagen services were exposed to several programmes. The famous ‘QCD’(Quality, Cost and Delivery) approach has been adopted and demonstrated across the Operations and Services teams. Our journey was recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India in 1995. This was a National Award for R&D effort in Industry in the category of innovative products for applications in the Electrical sector.

Since then, our Six Sigma and Quality Circle teams have received a spate of awards at both National and International levels for improving quality.

Corporate Responsibility

Being a leader in the field of energy metering and one of the most respected company in the region, makes Secure Meters highly accountable to society. Leading by example, Secure Meters has organized several public initiatives ranging from promoting sustainability within Udaipur to helping villages becoming empowered. Dharohar, a group of employees and their spouses, has been formed recently to help in all education related activities within Udaipur and in some villages near the plant in Kaladwaas. The members of this group volunteer their time for these activities.

By the principles laid down by the founders, Secure Meters remains highly committed to the society it forms a part off. Inclusive growth is the principle by which Secure Meters undertakes its Corporate Social Responsibility activities. Secure Meters encourages continuous learning in its employees; 3% of the time at work is spent on training, in-house or off-site. The employee is encouraged to learn and multi-task, he is trained in a variety of skills. Quality Circles and Six Sigma initiatives also encourage learning.

Solutions

E watch lite is an online data acquisition & monitoring software for Elite and Premier meters. It provides electrical energy parameters on real time basis and different reports for data analysis. E watch system is an effective solution for energy conservation and management of small metering installations.
Integrator is a web based interoperable software based on a common frame work as defined by MIOS*. This software is capable of reading data from multiple makes of digital energy meters. Integrator supports a large installed base of meters and offers scheduled automatic meter reading.

Route Master is a Base Computer Software for automation of meter reading process using area and sequencing approach. It facilitates reading of both digital and electro-mechanical meters with spot billing. Route Master helps in reducing bill distribution cycle, increase organisational efficiency and minimise human error.
M-Cubed is Modular Meter Management software for data collection and reporting from Secure make of energy meters. It has advanced modules for effective management of customer and meter information.
Pocket Power View is the application for meter reading using Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) or Windows based MRI. The system is very user friendly compared to conventional DOS based MRI. Pocket Power View also facilitates on the spot analysis of meter data.
STARS software suite is specially designed for Availability Based Tariff (ABT) online monitoring systems and customized Energy Management systems. It is used in conjunction with the APEX metering system. This system enables utilities to monitor real time data of ABT meters simultaneously at different locations (local grid substation, central station and other remote offices). STARS facilitates better decision making to reap real benefits of ABT.

Our core competence lies in combining experience, in the metering and time-temperature controls domain, with the knowledge-base of the team to deliver innovative products, services and solutions. The department has expertise in state of the art technologies in analogue and digital hardware design, communication and networking, embedded and high level software, metrology, mechanical and plastics design, product validation, quality systems and reliability engineering. This wealth of intellectual property and its creators are fully supported by a wide range of development equipment and facilities. State of the art Computer Aided Design, computer simulation and analysis, software development tools, prototyping facilities, environmental and EMI / EMC test equipment, reliability assessment equipment etc. all support the development efforts.
