How Our Pumps Self-Prime
The user must only fill the housing once with the liquid to be pumped or with water. This is designed to retain this priming liquid even if the pump is shut off. When started, the pump impeller mixes air from the suction line with priming liquid. The resulting froth is expelled into the priming chamber where the bubbles collapse, allowing the air to pass off through the discharge. The liquid from the bubbles falls back and is retained in the pump until mixed with more air from the suction line.
This process continues until all the air is evacuated from the suction line and the liquid to be pumped rises to the impeller. Normal pumping takes over from here.
