Quality Policy / ProcessesThe Quality Assurance System at SPL is a scientific and systemic one based on the twin principles of online inspection and trend analysis. The online inspection is designed to identify and eliminate possible deviations at the time and point where they occur. The trend analysis they occur. The trend analysis is to highlight long-term trends of all required attributes in order to focus efforts on improvement.
All potential areas of operations where deviations are likely to occur are identified and possibility of occurrence. If such inspection generates values outside the acceptable range, it triggers off a standard procedure to eliminate the deviation and segregate such production for a more careful inspection.
Simultaneously, the recordings of inspections made are computerised to create a data base. This data is then put to statistical analysis to measure long term trends which are periodically analysed to focus efforts at product improvement.
The Quality Assurance Department is manned by experienced personnel vested with adequate authority ( which includes stoppage of production ) for effective functioning. This department reports directly to the top executive management independent of production department.
This department is quipped with equipments like Test Rig designed in accordance with the British Standards to conduct load tests on FIBCs and Tensile Testing Machines to measure the strength and elongation of the fabrics, webbing, sewing yarns and seams.
The procedures of inspection, the acceptable range of measurements, the standard procedures to be adopted in case of variations etc. are all laid down in the Quality Manual which is periodically updated as and when the need arises.
The functioning of the Quality Assurance Department and Its observations are periodically reviewed with the top management and the production departments to identify trends. The emphasis is on finding solutions and in doing a job first time right. Such meetings lead
