Ultimately, it is the process flow scheme, equipment performance, and operating model (whether sophisticated or not) that determine maximum profitability. After finding out the unit limitations, our engineers look for ways to circumvent these limits by spending little or no money, where possible. This is optimization. A fundamental understanding of process operations is absolutely necessary as most process unit flow schemes are different.
